Maiden, Mother, Crone...

Three sacred stages in a woman's life. I hold strong to these truths, as I have seen them full circle in my own life. I was always a different child, the tomboy, the loner, one with nature, I had a special way of looking at my life. Always the hopeless romantic, I embraced classical music with a passion, even at an early age when my brother was into rock and roll, I was locked in my room copying the paintings of the great masters and listening to them as well. Even at such an early age I was sensitive to the beauty around me and was frequented to tears because of it.

As a 'maiden', youthful dreams of being a ballerina or a veterinarian filled my world with the visions of a young girl on her quest. But all to soon 'Motherhood' took over a new role, as did the life as a wife. I never intended to have children, but back in the 60's, those turbulent times in our history had a way of changing a young girls innocent dreams. Jimmy Hendrix, the Doors, Jefferson Starship, being a single Mom in those days was a challenge, as was being a wife. I could never get used to saying the word HUSBAND...it just didn't fit into my psyche.

So now as 'Crone', my life seems clear to me, I have the freedom to really be me, to take those artistic challenges, to be on my own meeting my own truths and never having to make apologies for who I am. Life is still a struggle on certain levels, as the body alters for it's new era and the economy challenges me to become even more frugal, I embrace my new world with clear eyes, strong values and a great punchline...always the jokester I try to find the humorous side to life, it brings a smile to every ones eye and allows me to tolerate Scratchy's bad behavior.
