Shadow Shot Sunday...To Be

Is it so bad
to be a toad...
to have such
a wee brave heart
beating
simple desires,
the chirp of
a queen's longing.

I am rich
beyond the day,
my empire
ne'er will end,
as I live by
the light
of the moon.

I am feeling the cold
and I'm tired
and long to be
nestled in
crystalline white blankets
warmed by a winter's turn,
while golden leaves
cuddle my
tender shadowed breast.

I am content
in the long white night
till the darkness
beckons my day,
I'll be home
again soon
and safe
at the dawn
of my dreams...

I am rich beyond
and
I am still
a toad.

Guess what SSS is here...where has the summer gone...I saw leaves turning to orange yesterday...you Aussies are seeing spring flowers...but you just had summer a few weeks ago...how did I miss that???

Regardless how beautiful Fall is, us Northuners know what lies ahead, now we dream of living in the South and my lil' toad tenant will be scouting out a safe haven for the long sleep and I will be busy caulking windows, can't afford the slightest draft to sneak in when it's 30 below zero outside...can you imagine my down-under friends...too soon snow shadows...argh!!!

Works in motion...God willing and the creek don't rise...

The flash flooding in Cedar Rapids area(Palo), has subsided and rain has moved East, so now we'll have sun and hopefully things will dry out, mainly just water in basements, as the creek down the street from us leaves it's banks, but sump-pumps are running...as you recall, there were MAJOR floods last year in that area, so people are weary...I'll give an update after work on Saturday.

I have always loved the look of designer Carol Hicks Bolton and thought this chest would be the perfect toy to play with. She used vintage fabrics to cover furniture tops and the look really had appeal to me and the top wasn't in the best of shape, so I tacked on a piece of vintage velvet curtain to give it a funky look...sure, not for everyone, but it looks FAB in my lil' shack!

...next, this lil' parlor table will receive it's feed sack topping tacked on and stenciling of French lettering to give it that newly imported style so popular now...

...then this cute lil chair will receive it's feed sack cushion to match it's topper and the usual French lettering...and new projects emerge...and off to the shop...I love my job...right!!!

Rainy dayz...Fall colors...and lots of bubbles...

OK...enough already...we already have flash flood warnings out for our area and another day of rain to go...then SUN!!!

...eggplants and vintage pharmacy bottles bring the colors of a season into your home...

...an ol'timey fave...Lavender, with organic lavender buds adding a bit of exfoliate to your daily ritual...and who doesn't love the scent of lavender buds...

...love the fresh n clean scent of Green Tea, with real tea leaves to exfoliate...

...Raspberry Patchouli brings out the unusual Hippy scent most remember...right?

...Alfalfa Fields with organic cornmeal, again to wash away the country grime...

...as settee bones rest atop a prim table...all settled down in the shelter of Sister's Garden and Bloom...

I follow the road less traveled...

My road to peacefulness...a farm road less traveled, beauteous fields of flowers line my path...

...wild chicory and black eyed Susan's...

...beautiful is my path strewn with color...

...Queen Anne's Lace and cattails abound down my country lane...

...then 'long comes MAN...always fear a man on a mower...will you not leave me some quiet bits of beauty...must all be in ruin...this was my trip to paradise...all lost...habitat reduced to drying fodder, wasted for nothing, what is this mad dash in the fall to cut away at the heart of summer...
Then they complain about not having finances for road work...hmmmm....

...however, a trip to Sister's Garden is never spoiled...you just have to have faith...and a little hope...

Shadow Shot Sunday...Easy Rider...

I am
only limited
by the will
of my strengths,
my youth's
fleeting
halting
passions
ruled
by pain
and fear
of the fall,
will these bones
give range
today...
we are
fast friends
I know,
you set
me free...
dreams
of a life
moving on
to sunset...
we were
fast friends
you know,
shall I
survive you
or you
I

There...I said it...the F word...

FALL...

...there I said it again...the new soap scents will be coming out in full force, as I listen to the squirrel chatter and winds of fall, ever so slightly entering into our world...

...the thieves are about squirreling away for the hard times ahead...and the walnut trees are dropping their leaves...

...there are vacancies everywhere...

...catching the last rays, as the days shorten and leaves begin to fall...

...RATS...well voles anyway, you can always tell when fall is coming...the hounds resume the hunt...good dog Scratchy!!!

...and so the cycle continues...

More cool stuff at Sisters' and Bloom...

Check out these wonderful matching harvest tables...DROOL...where does she come up with all this stuff...who cares...I want it all!!!

...a primitive lil' white painted wardrobe has seen better days...but what the heck, storage is storage and you can primp in it's little mirror as you pass by...how fun...

For all you lady carpenters out there...how perfect, a pink toolbox...surely this was an accident, or maybe the red faded to pink...who knows, but what a cool coffee table this would make...right...

This fireplace surround is just the best, perfectly chipped in white...it would look perfect in my house...how 'bout yours???

This is just the coolest counter ever...what cool country colors and doesn't it match up great with the 'Alfalfa Fields' soaps...ahhhh...the country and I'm tellin' ya, it smells just like the real think, with organic cornmeal to git off the grime...perfect!

...and what a great coffee table this lil' green table would make...let your imagination run wild...I do...

...looks like a baker's rack to me, but what a great display piece...for soap perhaps...hee hee...

As you can see, Barb has been a busy girl, bringing you and yours fun treasures galore...won't you stop by and say 'HI'...

New stuff at the shed...

Are these not the cutest lil' birdhouses ya ever did see...my daughter and her honey decided they needed more quality time together...and he needed a hobby to help Piper out at the shop with more inventory that wasn't from China...VOILA'...Rick is a pipe fitter by trade, but I think carpentry is well on it's way to making a stand.

They actually sold one first thing yesterday, how cool is that. Piper and I are both artists, but with two TOTALLY different styles and likes and we are tired of getting second class inventory from China, so another cottage industry is added to the 'Shed'.

...love the 'Get Lit' bottle lights for the bar...now that's recycling at it's finest...

The cutest lil' fuzzy knitted purses...

...aren't they just the cutest...love the black...and what about them boots...

...designer koozies...how cute are these...oh yeah, I can see my daughter's beer in one of these(they look like her slippers)...so just a lil' peek at what's new at Friends Candle Shed...

Friends forever...virtually...

I've already decided my New Years resolution...next year I'm going to visit some of the dear bloggers that are closest to my heart...you know when I think of the ones that are out of the country, like my dear sweet Gemma in Australia, it seems like such a faraway dream to visit her.

But what am I thinking, when there are so many that are just a hop and a skip right here in the states, just a state or two away...and what about the ones in Iowa/Illinois...duh!!! This year has just been one of finances and high gas prices, not to mention starting a new shop, but I promise I'll get there next year if it's the last thing I do.

This blogging phenomenon has made our world just a whole bunch smaller and our world of friends, unending! This post is dedicated to one, actually two of my dear, sweet friends, Robin and her Mum Tilda(Pat). I won a contest that Robin (One Still Frame) had posted on her blog, to win something precious and dear to her heart on the farm...well, this sweet sampler says it all!

Robin creates the most wonderful scenes of her beloved farm land and state of Michigan in her photos and words of inspiration...I have coffee with her and Tilda every morning, her Mum lives across the road in the family homestead and used to have the most wonderful antique shop, now closed due to the economy, but still has the best web site of ol'timey primitives,
High Button Shoe. We met on our host web site 'Crow Soup'...back in the day...

These are bonds that are strong, sisterhoods that will last till the end of our days...and I am proud to call them friends...and SISTERS!

Thanks for the coffee lil' Sis...

Mischief at White...Three days of summer...

One beat up bucket...
two geese a gagg'ling...

...and a horned owl in a chair tree...

Well you can't ever say there's a dull moment at the shop, as the never ending stream of Lorie's stuff is still filtering into the store, we had this overabundance of old chairs to place...well we have this huge yard to fill, but we don't want to get in the way of Bill's grass-mowing , so what better place to put them...on the old clothesline pole...clever aye...I think we are so tired from moving STUFF, that it's easy to get caught up in the humor of things...

OR...

...we are just tetched in the head...anyway...I am posting over on the 'White' blog, the new friends we made over the weekend, Amanda and Glen, bloggers form Springfield Missouri...Wish on a Whisker...I love this bloggy world!!!
