Shadow Shot Sunday...Faith...

faith
hope
charity
feed a soul

hearts fill with light
friends
strangers
bonding

communal sharing
equality
reality
caring

little effort
be a brother
a sister
a partner in life

shameless
strong willed
open minds
unite

breathe in
harmony in
brown
black
and white

I have the day off today, the first time in a long time...the benefit of having a booth, rather than a shop...I can get used to this!!!

'Tis a sad day in blogland...

Well, not really sad, 'cause we met two wonderful gals from Canada, Bev and Linda...but sad because we had to tell them we were moving our shop...AND...they were buying Norbie, our wonderful Californian pheasant that I got from Nancy over at Shab n Chic...'tis a sad day indeed, sorry Nanc, but that's how it flies in the world of junk tradin'...

Let's just hope he makes it across border patrol...maybe if they use him as a hood ornament, they won't notice him...kinda looks like that Mercedes emblem right...the girls read my blog every day and just had to drive down to the states just to check out all the goodies us rebels have to barter.

But we are sad too, to be leaving Palo, we've met some great people there, but our move is purely economical...we gotta make a buck...right...?

Having a great shop is one thing, but in reality, it has to make some moolah too and our new booth in The Amanas' has already done just that for us. Reaching a large tourist population, our prospects are far greater...so sad, but not all lost, we forge ahead...and don't be sad for Norbie...these girls are nuts...he'll fit right in.

Check out the White blog for shots of the booth space...later...

OLD...Fall Open House...SISTER'S GARDEN and BLOOM...

The wonderful old tree now harbors relics of the past, bits and pieces discarded by humans seeking greater pleasures...

...but Sister's Garden knows how to bring these old relics back to life...and you gotta see it to believe it...at the Fall Open House...

...wonderful old chairs welcome every corner...

...newly painted pieces give you the current fashion statements...

...black, black, black...you just can't go wrong with black...

...a golden fairy guards her throne...

...as the goblins and witches start to emerge...

...Autumn colors peek in here and there...

...as do the scents of fall wines...in glycerin soaps of many colors...

...trunks full of delight fill every nook and cranny at Sister's Garden and Bloom...hurry, don't miss out...it's Fall Open House!!!

Shadow Shot Sunday...Missing you...

simple by design
a dwelling
in a not so great
neighborhood
yet
it fills my eyes
with memories
flooded with smells
of pies
chocolate chip cookies
laundry on the line
and never forget
the lilac bush
Grandma
Grandpa
will you read me a story
hands so rough
yet gentle on my cheek
soft lips
peck love spots
never rubbed away
'cause I know
the meaning
of Grandparents
love in an apron
and overalls
I ne'er shall forget

My Granny's house sits empty, still holding memories of days gone away, used for storage now, yet the ghosts of dinners and celebrations...and Band-aids linger in her old walls...and the Autumn Clematis crowns the fence season after season...and as Shadow Shot Sunday is upon us again, I linger as I drive by taking shots of the past...

Have a great weekend everyone...

Bitches...dealers gone wild...

...as I'm walking into my favorite haunt...I'd tell ya, but I'd have ta kill ya kinda place...this truck full of goodies is parked right in front of the door...so while I'm pondering the treasures, I didn't even see the note on the bumper...then the insane laughing comes from the inside as Barb takes a pic of my surprised expression, just as I'm reading the note...ergh...!@#$%^&...'sorry sharon, I bought it all'...!@#$^&*...

...so in retaliation, er, always having the last word(punchline), I added my own note...

...and it doesn't get any better'n this...dealer and friend Barb Conner from the blog Simply Iowa and my faithful friend and partner in crime Lorie pulled a swifty on me....they knew my arrival was soon, so they put together this traumatic scene to greet me as I walked into the mall...did I say BITCHES!!!

I heart Mt Vernon...Iowa...

Is this just the coolest barn EVER...ahhh...Iowa(is that me)...?

...and you can barely see Lady Liberty on the front of this barn...I'll try and get a better shot of this one...'bout ran off the road as it was!

This is Bass Farms, my new soap and candle account, they just opened and are getting things in order for their greenhouse, gift shop and veggie stand...but lemme tell ya, that was the best sweetcorn I've had since my Grandaddy grew it on his lil' piece of paradise in the Cedar River bottoms back in the day...mouth-waterin'!

I'll write more on Bass Farm later...

Just a lil' view of their corn fields on a perfect sunny day in Iowa...don't get much better'n this...right Scratchy!!!

I always said I would die at age 95, face down in a can of paint...but these days, I think it'll be a cauldron of soap...after all it is Labor Day, so I must get to workin' on my 20 batches of soaps...did I mention I love my job...

Shadow Shot Sunday...A Day of Birth

have you ever had
one of those dayz
when your world
and your life
seem in fog
and a dizzying haze...

where has the time gone
your summer's
a dream
and a fleeting
at that
where it went
I don't know
do you know
what I mean...

as summer's
a season
we live through
a plenty
and time moves on
as it should have
with no rhyme
and no reason...

however...
when one reaches sixty
it all becomes clear
you've accomplished
and you've satisfied
your need to
be here...

would I go back
to the last season
I think not
I rather like it
right here
at the 'Crone' stage
of a woman's age
one of no regrets
I've been here
for a reason...

I'll sit back
and think back
to the younger of days
and be glad that
my path has
a many more ways
I can dream of
and be of
on the back porch of
my dayz...
