Dreams do come true...

Have you ever had a dream...something that you knew would be impossible, but if you wished hard enough and worked hard enough...it could really come true...
WELL...
My Dad and brother and myself are collaborating on making it happen...
I'm getting my shop/garage/studio down at the Pink Chateau.
You know how Tasha Tuder lived out her dreams, well into old age, well this is my 'rabbit hole'
my retirement and the ground zero to make it all happen.
We're putting up a building...a 12X24 garage, it's not huge, but it's a start!
Then from this point on my empire will begin, as John, my new best friend, an Amish carpenter up near Sisters' Garden, will soon begin to build on my fantasy...
Finally a place for all of my vintage doors, many rabbit holes for intrepid junk pickers to reach their final destination...JUNKVILLE!!!

I went shopping yesterday, kind of out of a need for another table for my expanding soap biz
(and who needs a need)right...heehee...
I have a big ol' timey kitchen, but no counter space, so I depend on tables and under tables to hold all the supplies and surface to carve my craft.
Soon I'll be making ol'timey lye soap for the new shop and work space is just a must!
Sweet huh...and while I was shopping I found these cute lil' pottery items too...
These soap batches drying on the new table are heading out to Alice in Castle Rock Colorado.

I love portraits of women...so now begins my collection for the new shop, a shop for women to dream dreams in and portraits of those that have dreamed...
once upon a time...

...and as always, birdhouses, you can never have enough...right...

Align CenterThe shop will be painted white inside and out...the hours will be...
if you see my truck I'm open...
I'll try to have 4 flea sales a year, hoping to get other vendors to set up for these too...
Piper will sell her candles here too, all herbal and floral scents, ol' timey garden variety smells to bring back the memories so long forgotten.
Long range plans are to have my chicken house built next summer, no one should ever have to rise alone in the morning without a rooster crowing into the sunrise...
This to me is paradise...
and mine will soon be complete!
Move over Alice, my wonderland cometh...

Thanks Dad and Bro...my mad hatters!!!

Shadow Shot Sunday...Gifts...

3:15 and all is calm
a night stalker
rolls off to the East
boiling

no breeze the
air lies in repose
summer beasts rest
weary on my brow
the change
stirs my soul

In fear I run
fleeing from despair
in the face the dragon
his wail heard in
siren song

walls of liquid fury
alter lives
sharing a gift
for some
scorn to another

cleansing tears
of the Goddess Sky
to the Sister Earth
healing the score
and scars
of the man

see
a rainbow on the brow
of Gaia

a gift

Still here to play SSS, though summer storms abound all over the joint, we live to see another day and rainbow...whew, what a day yesterday, I was an unofficial storm chaser, as everywhere I went , black wall clouds tried to halt my travels...HA, scary beast, you can't stop me...
THE SHOPPER!!!
If you go to my last post, you'll see the explanation of my shadow shot, I just liked the sun on the face of the statue and the shadows it produced.

Salvation...paradise and death from above...

Now don't be thinkin' I'm getting all mushy on ya now...I'm talkin' about the Salvation Army...
Every once in a while you find something cool, well I usually do find something cool every time I go, but I almost walked by these lil' gems...cool huh...

Two plaster statues, both about 12 inches high, but just too cool, I just had to make them mine...
This is a happy piper, probably piping to his flock...

Now this...would you call him 'the flocker'...well probably not, guess he would be the shepherd...herding his flock...OK, that was a little Friday humor...

...this is paradise, the view from my front door after an overnight thunderstorm made my newly mowed grass grow another 2 inches...

THIS is the death from above...a crop duster...disturbing my peace as he drops toxins all over our little blue orb...you think the gulf spill is bad...this happens every year like clockwork...
ALL SUMMER LONG!!!

I need to get my water filters replaced!
And we wonder where all of the cancers and disease come from...

Old...

For us ol' gals gettin' long in the tooth, guess you never thought about those days a comin'...but they do...and all too fast once you start feelin' it in yer bones.

...and what a compliment to be 'long in the tooth'...nothing like being compared to a horse, as a woman ages...
But now as I rise each morning, I feel the ravages of time...the fingers are starting to bend with slow arthritic scorn, once strong, I now have problems with those 'baby-proof' everything containers...
and why does it feel like every bra is a bungee jump...?

...and as much as I love dog grooming, I know my days are numbered...don't freak out friends...it ain't here yet, but I've been very busy this summer with groomings and the effects are being felt in the fingers. Good, conscientious(kind) groomers are hard to find...and one that you can afford, even harder.

I charge $18.00 for most groomings, now mind you I only do small dogs, but I think it's a fair price with today's economic struggles...I never was one to gouge.
Now you know why I'm so busy...

Like time worn candles...we still serve a purpose well...
which reminds me, I gotta make more candles...argh...

...and I pray for the strength to continue in health to finish my job here on this
great blue bubble...Earth and...
Sweet Repose

Critters N life...

I love this shot...down country highways and an American flag flying with pride. This flag was huge and is flying at an American car dealership...FORD!
I heart my truck!!!

This is an American field mouse...awwwww...
I walked to my back porch the other day to load up the recycling and movement in a box caught my eye...3 baby mice...these guys are so small, only about an inch and a half long...
innocence in nature.

Now what did I do with the poor lil' creatures...
of course I set them free out in the tall grasses of my homestead.
Sure, they may come back to be fodder for Scratchy's cat(dog) and mouse games, but such is life in my world.

American farmsteads...gotta love 'um, flag flying near the fields of dreams...

Check out the pillars on this grand ol' country dame...concrete...and his and her porch swings, how cool is that...but you know, back in the day, friends and family would come a visitin' to watch the grass grow, it was cheap entertainment...

A perfect landscape in my eye...

One of my deceased husbands favorite hunting spots...Klum Lake...great bird hunting and watching...I can almost see him off in the distance in the canoe we had so many trips(and spills) in...haven't had roast duck in years...sigh...

Two time travelers, buds for life...and a short one it is...better take another drive Scratchy...
life is fleeting...

Just another day in my world...

I love this new soap, Brown Sugar & Fig...a sweet scent of sugar, yet an exotic mix of fruity fig thrown in for good measure...delectable!!!

I like funk...however, not for everyone, you have to be in a different frame of decorating for this piece of furniture, it's distressed and grunged white, drawers left natural and a grain sack rough cut for a door on the closet side. A cute lil' mirror tops the drawers for a tidey little place to view yer hairdo. These were handy lil' dressers for hotels and boarding houses, back in the day when we weren't obsessed by walk-in closets harboring tons of clothes and shoes...just a place to set your hat and gloves.

Always adored, a bouquet of roses on porcelain lamp bases all to be seen at Friend's Candle Shed's new location...

Oh, did I mention the tornado that slowly passed by my property yesterday afternoon...I was at the mall working when the mall maintenance man came flying in the door and said get to shelter, there's a tornado down by the airport heading toward town...
WELL...
I live just a mile from the airport and there was only one thing on my mind...
SCRATCHY!!!
So I flew out the door for my truck and headed South straight into the eye of the beast...

The storm was just raising it's ugly head over the bluff and heading straight for my house, when it shifted to the East toward Fruitland, the town that was devastated in 2007 from another twister.

The thing that upset me was the fact that there were no sirens going off, new city policy, it goes off just once as a warning, we didn't hear it at all in the mall. If I would've been home working, all I would've seen is storm clouds brewing from my vantage point, I drove out on the highway for this view. Thankfully I have a storm radio that goes off, but if I'm outside and don't hear it to take shelter...well...

Fortunately there was no damage to property as this storm sailed over the river into Illinois...whew!
A close call!

Am I blue...NOT...

However, this sweet lil' dresser is...Barb said
'let's go crazy with this one'...
so, robin's egg blue it is, isn't the color fresh and soooo spring-like...
yup, I love it too, so it'll be displayed at Sister's for y'all to go gaga over!

Remember that cute lil' vanity I bought last week...TAH DAH...
don't ya love what a coat of white paint will do...
add a little French twist to the bench and you really have a little class...
Oo la la!
Can you say update!

For some reason parlor tables have been selling like crazy...
we had a long lul over winter, but now they are flying out the door, all painted white or natural wood stripped of it's finish...I love that look!

I thought this lil' table turned out really cute too, it was painted chocolate brown, as was the vanity, it was baby poop brown...I know you all know the colors of which I speak...
eeeee...what were they thinking???

What is it with girls and their dogs...we just have this great love affair going on
with our furry lil' beasts...love this old print, especially sitting on an old velvet easy chair...
ahhhhh...

Yup...another trip to Sisters' fulfills another day in paradise...
Iowa, my home sweet home...

Shadow Shot Sunday...What will be...

if I could walk through
the door in the wall
would time stand still
would mortal youth
freeze in this sleepy hollow
lair
would I sip tea all day
and watch the sun play in my
hair
tum'bling tresses falling
blind to this earthly nest
unaware of the hour glass
flowing in streams
of vanilla dreams
sands of time
descending into this mad mad world
but for me
I'll open doors
and sip tea all day
and imagine
times past and
what will be
will be

Don't you just love it when a shadow just stops you dead in your tracks...when did we become so aware, who created this madness, this passion for playing a game with friends...

Why I will always love Iowa...

The old homesteads, though fallen to season's ravage, it never fails to bring imaginings of what life may have been like back in the day...

Mmmmm...good(?) food, when the Cheri-top drive-in opens for it's summer season...
sorry TOT, it's Ioway...

Bestest friends and travelers from afar(Minnesota)...
Hi Barb and Ki...

My soul sister lives here too...hi Cathie...can I come play at your house...

Summer storms, a sky like no other...

old...

and of course...

...it's where Scratchy lives...
wanna chase the stick...

Some may call me crazy...

...perhaps for living in a lil' pink shack...but summer is what I live for, with flowers popping up all over, you never know quite where they'll be the next year...

I love that, a surprise in every package...
like Crackerjacks...huh Willow!!!

Well, my Black-eyed Susan are taking a liking to my back porch steps...cool huh...
Most would've definitely pulled the young tender shoots, but I thought...
WHY NOT...
This is the back side of the Chateau, the side that is constantly bombarded by the droll bickering of a 4-lane...I don't go back here much, except to plant more trees to hide me away from the masses...

...or to take pictures of the newly discovered plant life of my ever changing gardens...
ahhhhh...summer(nearly)...
live it to the fullest!
