What I do on a day off...

Whilst playing on Pinterest one day,
I found an armadillo table lamp...
Can you say SMITTEN...!!!

Well, I had a lady come into the shop one day
and ask if I would like to have an elk leg lamp...
I tried to stay composed and hide my ecstatic state,
sure I said, I'll take it off yer hands...SQUEEEE...
It was a gag gift from a friend, that she anxiously
wanted to see it's extrication from her home...lol

Well...I just happened to have an armadillo basket
and a piece of vintage trim...so I drilled a hole
in the top, added a finial and light bulb...TAH DAH...!!!
You love it right...lol...!!!

Viral...you know you've seen it...unfortunately...

About 5 years ago, I posted and sold this
lil' doll on my Etsy store, it's one of my
"Cracked in the Head" nightlights...
and since then, this picture has gone viral
on the net, it's the original...everyone keeps sending
this to me and my daughter because we
sell them in our shop...who knew...

Baby in a clock case...and why not...

 Adorbs...right...

I'd never heard of a Wonder Skin baby before...
however, with some age on her, this soft rubber baby
leaves little to be desired...over-cooked!!!

 Admit it, you love it...

Baby in a shadow box...very Gothic...

So again...you never know what you'll see on the internet
and Crack Head babies are alive and well, sorta...
in a little shop in Iowa, Candle Shed Effect...

I had a little trailer...

I decided to paint my little trailer pink...
after all, my house is pink,
so why not my 'pull'...Shasta

I parked my lil' pull back by my garden,
a place to rest and have a cool glass of water
on a hot day after working in the garden...
a dry place to stash my tools when
not in use...and a bright spot on my
six acre prairie to look at and smile...

However, I only painted three sides
so I can get funky on this side...a neutral palette
to grow purple morning glories on a trellis,
a purple door and the perfect backdrop
for my flamingos...don't you agree...
I'm havin' me some trailer park livin'...
out my back door...!

The mystery of the corvid...

Why is it this bird is so shrouded in mystery
why is this uber intelligent bird considered a nuisance...
I would let him adopt me in a heartbeat...
the rook...

Another painted box...

The Rook...

Well, I'm continuing to pursue my love of birds,
painting this baby crow was fun...

 Just the cutest lil' mug...lol...

And of course...the egg...whew, eggs are time consuming...

And the 'Rook'...I do love painting this
regal bird...still honing my skills as a painter...
nothing too serious, just retired and following
my dream...art...

A slight transformation...

 This is the AFTER...

BEFORE...I couldn't resist this funky desk,
the painted on flora, not so much...
it had issues, but really, not an issue...

The interior of this piece is what sold me...
so cute, though rough, it's still a keeper,
it has great bones, solid maple...

and just enough rough edges to make it appealing...
did I mention I love my job...!

Projects...bird houses...

Nope, I'm not going to be making them,
I'm going to be painting them...
I love to paint bird houses and nests,
only this time it will be on paper
rather than furniture...
fun times ahead, if only warm weather would arrive,,,

A work in progress...finis...

Nearly finished...omg, was this beak a bugger to paint...

 I continue to truck along...

 Finished...and finished...

A secret stash box for whatever your Mojo be...

A friend gave me her stash of old silverware boxes,
which is exactly what I needed for these projects...
my corvid studies continue...I have always had problems
painting crows, which is why I purchased the
bird to study...'the rook' is a European bird,
his beak is huge and that's where my struggles lie,
I can't get their beaks right...
but I am determined!!!

I'm at it again...

I purchased this awesome rook off of Etsy
the other day, to use for bird study to paint...

 Let the games begin...

The face on this Corvid is just remarkable...

This is the first one of many I will
paint as I hone my skills as a water-colorist...

Bring it on inspiration...

Full is full...

Home...well, when stuff doesn't sell
at the shop, I drag it home for a spell...

I get to play house and pretend it's all mine,
when in actuality, it's just inventory...
however,
it's inventory that I love...
and I buy what I love.

It gives me practice to stage the shop...
like I need practice, been doing this for 25 years
right...!

But, hopefully we will be getting into our busy
season soon, if the economy holds, and
my lil' pink shack will have wide open spaces...
and if you believe that...
well, you know the rest of the story...!
