Shadow Shot Sunday...Little feet...

Little feet
promenade in cellulose
memories saved, as
well worn rhymes dance solo
in a curious ode to joy.
Gilded tracks
trace the commute to
a cameras' published heart,
as childlike sprites
abducted from a book
of hostage spirits
escape to waltz again
in a lifetime
gone away.

Baby shoes encrusted with bronze protective coatings, remember when...
yeah, yeah, me too, showing our age huh!

Had a brief moment of sunshine yesterday,
so I quick snapped this fleeting shadow of a shoestring stiff with age...
hey...it's a shadow...right!!!
And it's winter in the Heartland...you gotta be quick!

Anyway, go check out the really far out shadows over at
Harriet's place...K!!!

Can you feel it...change is coming...

I received my first mosaic frame from Kelly Aaron Mosaics yesterday...
TO DIE FOR...
and doesn't this quote from Mr. Whitman just say it all!!!
This collection of frames will be added to the new line of candles and soap
up at Sisters' Garden.

...however, speaking of change...
aren't you feeling the need to move things around
in your own nest...
ME TOO...
The closer we get to Spring the more effected we are.
My fragrance cupboard in my kitchen needs a redo...

...as well as everything else in there,however...
this is the sweat shop for the soaps and candles,
so I'm so limited on what I can change.
Piles of molds and jars and soap and on and on...
HEY, it's a shop, a working shop right in my kitchen...
right TOT, haven't been able to use my kitchen table for years...
how novel, eat off the kitchen table!!!

Purge...purge is the word...
I'm working on an Etsy store too...in my spare time,
so many of my treasures will be featured there,
as well as my Cracked in the Head nightlights
and jewelry.

So, as the days get longer and the urge for change takes hold...
there is never a dull moment at the Pink Chateau!

Gotta run...my dog groomings are here...whew!

Un-white Wednesday...

Well sorta...I was going to do White Wednesday today, but I took
so many great pastel photos at Sisters' today,
I just couldn't...
however, I did haul this awesome white farm table
up to Sisters' yesterday and Deb worked her magic
and made it fit perfectly 'long side that
wonderful old sink...how cool is that!!!

so how un-white are pastels and the scent of fresh lilacs...
so Spring-like...

...and robin's egg blue...doesn't get much more Springy...right!

...and pastel pink tutus, just wants to make you child-like again,
hey Brandon, this is what we need...
fluttering like butterflies around in your room
with all sorts of fairy tale dreams afloat in your mind...

...mmmmm...the soft floral scents adrift...

...and who doesn't need a violin case full of laces...

I'm going to predict that dried flowers will come back into vogue...
well, maybe not vogue, but farm style chic...
do ya think...

So gather yourselves together and head up to Sisters, we be rearranging
and gathering new delights...as spring cleaning is just around the corner...

WE CAN'T WAIT!!!

Like it or not...

Henry Miller, the writer may not have been your cup of tea...

or Anais Nin may have been too experimentally racy for your world,
however they were wonderful writers
full of life and love, exploring every avenue in their world,
willing to write what they felt and experienced...

ahhh, free will and fancy take flight!

Well, this is the way I want to market my new candle and soap scents
and you won't believe the wonderful, exotic fragrances I've chosen...
OH MY...
soooo decedent and so secret,
I'll never tell!!!
You simply must run to Sisters' Garden and check um out...
TO DIE FOR!!!

The road less traveled...

WHATEVER SATISFIES THE SOUL IS TRUTH

People often ask me...do you ever sleep...
yes, a little...only enough to satisfy the body...the soul...
now that's another story!

I'm doing a line of soap and candles , that are pretty much in the drafting phase,
but I have two scents ready, the first is Walt Whitman...
all kind of mysteries behind this creative soul,
read about him...there's a pattern forming here...
an earthy, musky scent in the tradition of 'Leaves of Grass'
and the unknowns of the man...Walt Whitman.

THERE IS ONLY ONE HAPPINESS IN LIFE, TO LOVE AND BE LOVED.

Now George is my kinda woman...free spirit...
Left her family behind to experience it all, shunning
her ladies garb for the more comfortable men's attire,
she rode horses and shot a pistol like the men in her life...
and had affairs like nobody's business, even Chopin,
what this lady had going was charisma!
Her fragrance will be a manly scent showing off her free will...
it's to die for!

The candles are soy, and again are in the MADE IN AMERICA
Ball jars. I love these jars, so reusable and really cute.
All will be colorless, except for the subtle coloring of the oils...
simple!

...and must'nt forget the goblets, these are filled to the brim
with delectable Cheesecake...oh my!!!

More surprises coming as I wait for the new
scents to arrive...Anais Nin is next and
maybe Henry Miller as her partner in lust...
Also, my bestest bud in crime, my Goth Sista is
making her mosaic frames with the writers in mind, they are SWEET!!!
Check them out on her blog ECCENTRICITIES...
Walt is to die for!

Shadow Shot Sunday...Heartland...

I'll make peace with Winter
only when I became a merchant
did he become so full of dread
is it my age of resolve
to many of life's misfortunes
or is it reason
it will be here again
like clockwork, always is,
but resolve has blessed me
with patience and peace of mind
come on ol' man Winter
you have a beauty
like no other season
pure white frozen tundra
air so crisp and breath-taking
the boards beneath my feet crack
as if telling me
'tread here only if you dare'
but tread hither I will
into my brave new resolve
WINTER
you don't scare me!

My mini-wind mill,
back in the day, probably the 30's, they started producing these
tiny copies for a city wife's garden,
everyone had them, little reminders of the good ol' days,
as more and more people moved to the burbs.
My little fella never stops whirling, he just spins away the days
in my secret garden awaiting the summer breezes...
like me I guess...it'll come,
always does...

In the meantime, head on over to Harriet's world,
bet there's a bunch of us waiting in the SHADOWS!

In spite of the weather...

A room with a view...I love my new window in my room at Sisters',
I love having a room at Sisters'...
rooming next to my bestest bud Brandon and his
wonderful decorating style that totally
enhances mine...
HELLO BRANDON...wherever you are...

Bits of Valentines' Day are arriving with the scents of LOVE SPELL...
YUMMMMM...
I have a new surprise coming for my soaps...very romantic...and very poetic!!!

The newly painted sideboard nestles into the upstairs of Sisters',
it's a perfect match...as most of my furniture has had a sudden departure...
but that's what it's all about for a dealer!

You have never smelled a peach candle like this one,
it'll make your mouth water for more...soaps too!

Pumpkin Cheesecake, an all time favorite in American made Ball jars,
not real classy, but then that isn't the REAL issue is it...
MADE IN AMERICA

Next to my man Brandon and I, the room belongs to Erika and Elaine...
two of the sweetest, most talented young gals out there...

The girls make these hand-printed signs that are to die for...
I want them all!!!

...and of course, there's BLOOM...
the little white farm house next door,
it's turning very Springlike over there...you simply must go check it out...
fresh Lilac and Lemon Verbena soaps!

We ain't afraid of no stinkin' snow!!!
Venture out to Sisters' Garden and Bloom...
SOON!

White Wednesday...Pure white torture...

This is my very first White Wednesday, thought I would give it a try-on for size
and it fits...
Remember that primitive looking dark brown sideboard...
well, not boring anymore!

The bad thing is when the piece is finished, it has to sit
in my parlor until delivery date...argh!!!

So naturally I had to stage it against my raw plaster walls....
did I say torture...it looks so cute, I just hate for it to leave.
However with all the ice and the new blanket of snow last night,
I'll get to enjoy a bit longer...sigh...

The before...
though I loved this piece as is, I knew nobody else would.
I toyed with painting it black and it would've looked MAWVELOUS,
but I also knew that with the glass pulls it was just screaming white
and new white painted furniture has been selling quite well up at Sisters' Garden,
so white it is and what a beauty it turned into...and yes,
white is still Queen!

Check out the rest of the white-o-philes...
we're hooked and we're spoiled!!!

A life's journey...

A time to reflect...
have I done a good job of it...
I think so and that is all that really matters!
To grow old gracefully and be who you are...

I love Tasha Tudor and the way she lived her life.
Simple means, though I'm sure her many books
left her above simple means, however the lifestyle she embraced
has always fascinated me since Victoria started printing her...

I see myself...Barb@ Sisters' always said you remind me of Tasha...
how sweet was that compliment and so taken to heart.
I love living alone, dreaming of ways to simplify my life...
in the old ways...
up before dawn collecting eggs,
feeding the critters, tending to chores...however,
there are limits today...
Still have to make a living, so in this fast paced economy,
the simple life still eludes!

A Sweet Repose...
