A peek...

OK Tilda, thought I'd better start off with the work space...
Yes I do have one, I wanted it to be 1/3 of the shop.
It's more than enough space for me to build and paint
each new piece, close to the garage door for easy lifting, just
back up the truck and pull it off.
Then it will be displayed temporarily
until it's moved to Sisters' or the Candle Shed.
I haven't moved in the shelving yet, was just anxious
to get all this crap outta my house and trailer.
Now I can tweak each piece while it's out of the weather...
then off it goes into the 'wild' blue yonder!
And yes TOT, most was moved in by me...
'the wild thing'...
but what a way to go!!!

The new pillars I got yesterday from Lorie at The Junk Asylum,
she knew I needed some for my front porch...cool huh!

Now imagine all of this stuff being in my house...
geesh...

Bits o Autumn here and there...

I had these great lil' corbels that I wanted to use for shelves
and had the perfect barn board out in the wood pile...
I heart birdhouses...!

SWEET N CHIPPY!!!

Space's filling up fast...

Toys...
and a doll house to fulfill a dream...

more to come...

I'm pooped!!!

First coat of primer...I like just one coat with the wood
bleeding through ever so slightly...
hmmmm...
Yup, the door is white, it wasn't the original finish,
so I had no guilt painting it,
as a matter of fact, I painted it the
green and gray, white suits my vision better.

LOVE the inside...
My brother came down yesterday with his sprayer
and we got the inside almost totally finished,
'cept for a few beams that have to be painted and just
touched up here and there.

The floor is battleship gray, a good dirt hider,
though dirt doesn't hide at the Chateau...
it's called
ANTIQUITY!!!
I actually love the look of little cobwebs
in the corners of a window attached to an
old flower pot or book...
it tells me of a little life that just passed by...

See what I mean about the bleed...do I dare leave it
or paint on that second coat...
but doesn't it look cool with the old doors
n winders...?!
OLD...

A question...

Is this not the greatest detail on this old door...
especially with it painted white...who doesn't love white,
so romantic and ol'timey.
So many old farm homes were painted white,
like they had many choices back in the day,
but it reflected the hot sun in the summers,
helping to keep them cooler...in theory!
But it gave a fresh, new look to the home too
and it was cheep.

My dilemma...
should this door stay green or
have a fresh coat of white paint...
I'm on the fence here, but I'm
leanin' toward the white.
I think the monochromatic look I'm goin'
for will be best served with the white...
but there's just sumthin' ol'timey about the green.

Well, I think I have my mind made up, but I
just wanna know what you think...
as if I don't have enough to worry about.

When this lil' project is finished, I will have an
open house give away for all my blog sisters
AND BROTHERS(sorry Brandon)...
Have no clue what,
but
I'll be thinkin' about it while I while
away the hours on the ladder...
you solve all the world's problems working away
on a ladder you know!

How do ya get 123 Primer out of your hair...
and why does it always land on your boob!!!

OMG...OMG...OMG...

Check out my commute to work...it may be a little over 25 ft.,
I may have miscalculated...WHATEVER...
and so the dream begins!

This is the side visible to the 4-lane that unfortunately
goes right behind my house, but it'll be good for biz...right!
These double hung vinyl clad windows
(with screens) I snagged at
Salvation Army for $30.00 each...
I really wanted old windows, but
I can't pass up a good deal...
They look wonderful next to the old
beveled glass door that was given to us...
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Just lookit all this room...
well, it's only 12x24, but dang, they don't call me the
Queen of Cram for nuthin!

I could've sold my old double doors many times,
but they have always called to me.
My deceased husband brought them home
as a surprise for me one day, I've just never been
able to part with them,
they came from an old homestead near my home,
the Jim Hahn(Iowa state representative)family farm...
my husband saved them from the barn demolition.
They have history for many reasons for me!

The sweet lil' old windows I bought from Sister's Garden...
Barb always has the best stuff...
and they were on sale!!!

This sweet old door came from the first house I bought
for my daughter and her son.
We had a fabulous shop in that house,
many people still say it was their favorite shop.
The house and all the houses on the block
were purchased by Family Video stores to build
one of their stores. It's wierd to rent videos in there,
knowing it's in my old living room...ha!
I had salvage rights to all the cool stuff!

Let in the light and get the wheels a turnin'!

I've worn myself out today with anticipation
of what's to come...
but tomorrow I'm off...
that is after my four groomings go home...
to buy paint and get started.

Have a long row to hoe,
but all I have in this life is time...
I've been given this incredible energy
in this one lifetime,
so I must use it well before I have to give it back...

Let the games begin!!!

I'm just a lil' tease...

Wednesday afternoon they bring a dream come true
to my front door at the Pink Chateau...
my studio/garage is finished.
The sky was cloudy, so you can't see the white metal roof.

I was chasing the carpenter all over the roof while I was taking pictures,
the Amish are a humble people and don't like their pictures taken,
so I respected his privacy and snapped when he turned his back.

Now for the paint, the shutters, the window boxes,
the shelves over the doors, the gazebo, the porches,
the pillars, the corbels, the lawn chairs, the yard art,
and a rockin' chair...the list goes on,
but what a fun project...
and I'll share it all with you,
my friends and sisters...
and you too Brandon...ha!

The nesting and the story of
the Wild Thing begins...

Thanks Dad and lil' Brother...
I love yous!!!

Push beyond tradition...

OMG...my new decorating bible...
by Michele Lalande and Gilles Trillard...
WOW is all I can say!
This is not yo mamma's decorating!!!
This is about elements and vignettes
so if you don't like taxidermy and clutter
you must exit now!

This is one of my favorite shots, serenity
and old light...can you smell the age...

This is not just taxidermy, these are earth elements and history.
People have been honoring animals since the dawn
of time, adding a magical element to their lives.

Old stone walls, white paint on weathered woods...
and light! So what if you don't like the emu...
explore the elements,
open your artistic mind.

Turn the pages of another's book,
feel the history, smell the old,
walk the path of another's world.

Look at this shot...
it totally works, a blue sofa and a green door
AND LIGHT!!!

Element, elements, elements...
and display!

Subtle vignettes celebrating simple or complex.

COLOR SPLASH!!!

A simple vignette can be as awe-inspiring as a Picasso or a Monet...
have fun with decorating, pull out all the stops,
break tradition...
be free!

Right TOT...heh heh!

Affirmation...

The power to transform...
we learn and grow every day of our existence
not wanting to repeat our mistakes
we have metamorphosis
we have change
we become more ...

I love to make lil' samplers,
each new affirmation will grace
the new shop, waiting for someone
to chose and be changed.

Sky blue droplets grace this new necklace,
raspberries and a child's face from an old book...
sweet!

As I await my new adventures in my
'pathless woods'...
you can follow any path
into any woods, but
be careful...
you may get what you ask for!
