Ugly ducklings and transformers...

Don't you just love lil' smoking stands...
they can be used for so many things in so many places,
petite and sweet in a new coat of white paint...

...and what ever possessed them to paint things
baby poo brown!!!
was it supposed to look like oak woods when the piece
was chipped and stained from time...ewwww...if they only knew...

This cute lil' piece still has its metal lining to keep the tobacco fresh...
do people still smoke???

Remember these two pieces from the other day,
all crisp and white, now with their fresh coats of white,
they're ready to sit in your parlor reflecting the light of Spring...
it creeps ever so close!

I wasn't sure if I was going to put a wash over the tops of these pieces
to give them a weathered look, but decided to leave them alone,
as Brandon and I are playing in the hallway upstairs at Sisters' Friday,
bringing in the Spring and a change to the entrance of our rooms.

This sweet oval frame will also reflect the season we all
anxiously await...and thanks Country Living
for telling us white is still QUEEN!!!

I got my last of my subscription to County Living and had no plans to renew it. Various reasons. THEN along comes this issue that shows the glorious whites we are supposed to have hated for the past umpteen seasons and years. LOVE it that they finally caught on! Black and white. Doesn't get any better!

Sharon, every time is see the term "Victorian Tribal Salvage" I just have to dream.... Best descriptive phrase ever! Also, the coats of white paint do wonders for those sweet old pieces. Hey, I'll tell you who smokes.... a whole bunch of people in our town who are constantly writing letters to the editor about smoker's rights. I think some of them may be the parents of little kiddos I taught who came to school reeking like the bottom of an ashtray. Oh dear, sorry about the short rant!

There is a delicacy in design, despite the hardwood and steel construction. The shape is pleasing, and with a bit of storage capability that transcends the ubiquitous plastic storage container. Nicely designed crying out for restoration and placement in a conspicuous place in someone's living room...
