Where is Carol Bolton...I need a fix...

Images we all remember and dreamed in, where is she now,
where are the magazine articles, where is the old Carol we loved...

Pictures from Victoria magazine, back in the day...
we all still have every one of our old magazines, don't we...

Remember the awe we felt as we memorized each minute detail...sigh...

Don't know about you, but the pictures of the EJ Victor furniture she designs is awesome,
but it just doesn't fulfill that need to see her personal creations from the beginning.
Somehow, for me, looking at pictures of $10,000.00 sofas and chairs, draws a blank...
Perhaps a glimmer of excitement, but it soon fades back to reality...

out of my league...and the search for more reality...

Sharon, I'm totally with you and I've wondered the same thing. I know her store is still in Fredericksburg and I keep telling myself that I want to go there so bad, but I'm told that she normally can't be found at the store that it's mainly run by her husband. There's a new blog I discovered "Binky La Faye", it's on my side bar, and she's been doing some decorating for their shop and posting pics. You might check it out for small glimpes of her store. I do wish she'd come back too!

Many times I have wondered where Carol disappeared to.....I thought Homestead had new owners, but what do I know? She was the best at decorating with the un-thinkable we all embrace today---I loved her use of broken, cracked and torn stuff! Sorta like she showed us it was ok to re-purpose----she was so good at it!

While others were drooling over "Shabby Chic", I was mesmerized by her "Hill Country Chic". SHE is my muse and I have been a fan of hers from the very first article in MEHC and I wish she would resurface to give us all a little direction. A true Texas treasure!

The first time I ever saw her design work was many yrs. ago when my sisters & I went to Fredericksburg for a stay. When we walked into her shops there, it changed our lives. Then she had 3 & it was the first time we had seen an all white shop. One of my favorite articles was the one on her mother's house. Where is she & does she know we're looking for her????? Stay warm, Jan

Yeah, I get it now--I mean what you all must have to go through all winter, but don't they at least come around and plow or treat your roads?

We are totally stranded here with no help. I ventured out today and DARN near didn't get back home!! I kissed the icy ground---and I'm not budging 'til spring, after that horror!

I REALLY hope your brother is getting through the melanoma treatments well, and will get a clean and clear report very soon!!(I have battled so many squamous and basal skin cancers over the past 40 years-the last Mohs surgery took 7 hours!)

Anyway, you are awesome to be there to support and help your family!! That's certainly more important than a little sun and palm trees!!

So glad you found and stopped by my Blog... I agree, we need more Carol Hicks-Bolton originals! I still WANT that Sofa in the old Magazine spread... I've kept all the articles and photos... if I can find similar fabrics I intend to hire an upholsterer to steal... ummm I mean borrow... the inspiration and reproduce it down to the tiniest detail! *LOL* Glad to have found your Blogs now too... isn't the community in Blogovia grand... connecting to like minded Souls! I LOVE your old Doll Nightlights but I'm afraid my Grandkids would be so creeped out they would never sleep again?!? *wink* We have a difficult enough time to get them to bed... so better hold off on something that avant-garde even if Gramma likes it! *smiles* Of coarse, my Grand-Daughter is a bit like Wednesday of the Addams Family so perhaps she could handle it? I know this post is old, but just in case anyone happens upon it... I have a gorgeous Carol Bolton Hicks sofa that I need to sell... we just moved to a much smaller house and the sofa is just too big. I really don't know how to go about selling such a thing... I found this post looking for other pieces by her that might be for sale. My sofa is very similar to this one: http://www.invaluable.com/catalog/viewLot.cfm?afRedir=true&lotRef=071ba08c11&scp=c I paid more than $10K when I bought it... I'll sell it to anyone who can pick it up from Galveston, TX. Make me an offer. terilynbrown@gmail.com
