Autumn...

 Out my kitchen window...
brrrrr, it's cold today!

 No summer colors,
only the shades of grey...

Some new growth after the drought,
but a hard freeze will end the struggle.

The scent of lavender lingers still...

A last load of grooming towels,
not too many days left for laundry on the line.

Tattered and worn, the signs of summer
and my country...gone, America...

Whatsa girl to do...

The fun thing about having a shop
is the constant moving of stuff around.
If something has been in the shop for too long,
I either take it to another location
or I bring it home...
I'm speaking of the old buffet topper
and the oak chest.
WTH...
But I never worry about it,
I just fit it in until it's time to move it out
or paint it, but some pieces I
just haven't the heart to paint.
These both have been stripped and
no finish applied...raw wood,
I especially love that in my home!
AND I can always use another surface
to set more crap on...
to put it bluntly..............
it sucks to be me...lol!

Pimping my pull...

The newly painted 'loo',
ya gotta love it and
phase one...
interior totally painted white,
but I have more work up my sleeve...
old hippie spread cut up for curtains on
windows and the loo, hung from
plain ol' wire...

Love my Native American rug on the floor
and a small desk to hold books, paper etc...

The galley is painted and cleaned,
not that I'll be using the stove and sink,
but at least it's a start...

And the cute lil' dining area,
need to make some covers for the cushions
and blue ticking for curtains and
spare sofa pillows.
Gotta get the wiring checked out,
then I'm ready to role into
THE GREAT UNKNOWN!

My 'PULL'...

I know y'all are diein' to own one of these gems,
well I finally do...and now comes
the fun part...decorating it...

Throwing away the old cushion covers
then trying to decide what fabric to replace
it with...leopard maybe...

The galley really needs some TLC,
but fortunately in my kinda work, 'distressed'
gives new meaning to 'restoring'...

Bought these great, old Chinese lanterns today,
can you guess where I'm going with it...
the walls will be white with a rustic wash
over them...Scratchy makes herself at home!

the 'loo'...walls white and I think
a vintage chair over the top with a hole
in the seat for a more comfortable, relaxed
feeling...it's all about the comfort...right!

 The spare bedroom, yeah right...
you get me up there and you might not
get me down...looks like great storage huh!
It's over the kitchen table.

Yup, it's my baby and I'mma gonna have me some fun...

Unkept beauty...

A thing of beauty as seen by my eyes...
I relocated my decrepit ol' buggy
nearer to the wildflowers growing
next to the 4-lane, hopefully next year
it will be surrounded by the 4 ft. beauties...
with moving my mom back from Florida
and moving the shop, there's been
NO TIME for gardening or just
playing with my toys...

Unkept, yet natural is how I roll...
I so enjoy the black-eyed Susan, but
it's a mystery every year where they will
turn up next...always a surprise...
and a smile!

I heart trees...n grass...

The lavender is in full bloom, as well as the
buffalo grass, I heart prairie grass...
and clothes on the line...

I mow very little of my yard these days...
I love to watch the progression of prairie forbes
and perennials stroll through new pockets
of overgrown vegetation...like I live in
the country, back in the day...I want to hide
away from the world, my green cocoon.
Yet around the house, it is mowed
and trimmed to perfection,
the chocolate at the center of my tootsie pop,
but my perennial gardens sport many
wild prairie plants that just appear...
I love that!

The brome grass, bluegrass and others, make
for happy hunting grounds for Scratchy
chasing voles and stuff...
also another cedar tree row is added,
can never have too many tree rows...

I have a row of redbuds forming
an arch over the path at the front porch...
Virginia Creeper aloft, I dare to allow it
to hide me away, havens for insects and
fodder for the bees, every year I plant
more and more...of the wild things
that move with the wind...

The wild honeysuckle have really taken off
providing much loved privacy out in the front
and the berries provide food for
the winter birds...sanctuary...

My forest of cedar trees and scrub
Chinese elm fill my 6 acres with bird song
and small game for the sky and ground
predators that wander the night...
I love it out there, it's my cathedral,
it's where I pray to the four winds
of the Mother...Gaia...

I heart the tall grasses and the
silver birch that would take over
if I let it...I may let it...
I'm Laughing Out Loud...

I once had a path between my flower beds
and my veggie garden, but this year
the black-eyed Susan have decided to
reappear...and I can't bare to pull a single one
and in the sandy soil, you just don't
move plants, it's too hot and dry.

And last but not least, the long awaited
queen of my prairie...the milkweed...
I adore this plant, I can smell the blooms all
over my property, they are like a powdery
jasmine, sweet and alluring and are a
fave of many bugs n butterflies...
my yard certainly isn't for everyone,
but it is paradise for me n Scratchy,
the tree lover and the beast!
