Beauty, hard work and the unusual...

My front porch...not just an ordinary porch
of decorated designer beauty, it holds the tools of my trade
and a nail keg full of sand in case the ramp is slick...

Country charm, as my dog-grooming towels
dry in the breeze, can you imagine living in a
neighborhood that bans outdoor clotheslines...
OH THE HORROR!!!

An heirloom tomato blossom, I was struck
by it's simple beauty...
looks like the sun, huh!

The cabbages and broccoli are going to town in the
bare spots of the strawberry bed...to which
I'm totally committed to keeping weed-free this year,
however, as last year's rains made it impossible, this years
rains are doing the same!

Lack of funds made it impossible to buy my bees
this year, but hopefully next year will bring promise...
I'm always hopeful, it will come when it comes!
The economy has me dreaming of homesteading,
going off grid has always been a dream of mine,
as well as communal living, each community giving a
helping hand to it's brothers and sisters,
reaping and sharing, one with the land...
isn't it the way it should be...sigh...!

The more homesteading blogs I find, the more
involved I become...what if...
what if it was all taken away and you were forced
to live off the land, how many could...
I can't even fathom the chaos...
I better plant more tree rows(and get a bigger dog)...ha!

This is what it's all about...free-range,
chickens in their natural state, wondering my yard
eating weeds and grasshoppers...
and having my flock follow me everywhere...
life is good!

But you have to see beyond the weed to the hope
and the new future...you think the lowly milkweed
is here to be destroyed, but what of the butterfly food...
try cooking the flower heads
or the young pods, Euell Gibbons would've,
he was my guru, back in the 60's...
I've always been a nature girl and a farmer wannabe,
and now I am...

I AM...!
