Shadow Shot Sunday...Summer...

Some of us have been doing SSS for quite some time now
and we all know what it's like to walk by
then stop dead in your tracks when a shadow
catches your eye, even me Mum down in Florida
tells me she sees great shadow shots for me...
HI MUM...
funny how a lil' meme connects friends n family.
I couldn't pass up the skull shot out in my shop,
sweet huh!

Peaceable summer shadows at 'the pink shack'...

Not so peaceable...

as scary storms rumble through...
and let me tell ya, the day turned to night
on this particular storm, front line winds blew
down a huge tree at the neighbors across the street...
geesh, scary!!!

but summer bumbles on, as the chores of a season
never end...strawberry jam for the pantry...
YUMMM...!

Fruits for my labor...if I can beat the robins...

Next will be the cabbages and the beans...
ahhhh...sweet summer...
Shall we all mosey on down to Tracy's...K...

oh my! what dark clouds. they were supposed to head from you to us, but they somehow missed us. we had fierce winds for many days however.
we need rain. i hesitate to even mention that as Mother Nature often hears and reeks vengence on me. the rains of Michigan are going around us. the big town to the north got the hard rain and even 5 miles south of us, but not a drop here.
LOVE your iris. mine are just coming out. things are late this year. but recent warm weather after weeks of NO spring has made things jump up.
i am soaking it all up, all the beauty and smells. the outside world is simply amazing. my barefeet love it.

This is a wonderful, wonderful post. Made me feel really good, despite the menacing sky.

A wonderful post indeed, Sharon, and beautiful shadow shots as always. The skies are scary, particularly the really dark one and with all the horrific weather that has been experienced this year, it's easy to be alarmed by such a sight. Hope you have a great, sunny weekend! Enjoy!

What great pictures! I know what you mean; I have my eyes always open for shadows these days. I have also found that what I would otherwise consider a "bad picture" becomes a great one for SSS.

That black sky looks way scary. Glad you are okay.

Take care,

Kathy M.

As I usually do, looked at the ShadowShots first before reading...But the 'Hi Mum' caught my eye & funny, I thought it went with the skull!! Had to then stop and really read your captions. hehe. Nice jam...is it freezer or regular?? I've only ever made freezer strawberry jam myself. Takes up alot of room though.
Happy SSS Miss Sharon!

your post made me feel like having luscious strawberry jam while sitting on that bench. Nowhere near those dark clouds though... ;)

stay safe and happy!

At first I thought the skull was a turkey nailed to the wall!!

Scary clouds indeed! But the strawberries and jam...not scary at all!!

That dark sky is indeed scary. And deathly dark shadows behind the skull are evocative.

I know what you mean about these memes drawing family together. With us, it's the Yard Art Game. My husband will now slam on the brakes at the sight of a garden gnome.

I'll take the beshadowed strawberries over that ominous sky!

BE MY COMPANION

Come here, my shadow,
Do not delay;
Be my companion,
Show me the way;
Teach me your secrets,
Chant as we go
Of light and darkness—
Make my heart glow!

Oh, that jam looks so yummy! how about I bake up some fresh wheat bread for that jam? And, we can take turns churning some fresh butter and tell tall tales as we churn. And, yes, I'll make the tea!
That sky looks very formidable! I wish we would get that here as it is the same old sunshine every day! Change would be good as long as the roof doesn't leak! ; )

Oh Sharon, you make me look mighty lazy, when I see all that you've done and how far behind I am with the garden. I still haven't planted my beans, or my carrots, or any tomato plants. maybe tomorrow! your shadows show that you are lush and in full summer mode there. two days ago the high was 47 and today it's almost 80 and very humid. what a difference a day makes. I love the dramatic dark sky photos too, but don't want any harm or damage to anyone. and I've always wanted a cow skull like yours. I love looking at your photos because I feel like I'm home. have a great rest of the weekend and a fun week Sharon! stay cool.

Having no preconceived notion as to what a perfect shadow should be, I just keep my eyes open for shadowy brilliance - and more often than not, they jump at me. All shadows have their charms...

Lovely strawberries. Patti found a few on our plants today, and they were smallish - but sweet. Your jars of jam make me almost salivate a PB&J with this berry jam. Tasty ruby goodness!

Such a beautiful series of photos! Love all the wonderful glimpses of your world! I imagine being there!

In my world, the winds are roaring, the rain persists, but when the winter sunlight peeps out through sea mist, the effect is magical!

I had my first small walk near Dromana pier this week! It felt so good and scarey! My arm hurt from jarring as I crossed the road from the carpark, but once on the sandy coastal track and grass it was much easier! I'm so lucky to have such wonderful sea views near my home!

Trying to write/type reports for school! Slow and very hard to think clearly, but I'm having a go!

Tending to use many photos from my archives for daily posting! I ensure the date for views of skies/scenes matches the current date so that the seasonal light is right! But that is a good thing! I'm finding photos I had long forgotten and meant to post!

Hope your week stays warm and sunny for you! Biggest hugs dear sister!

I'm so glad that you're enjoying your summer after such a long cold winter! I wish I lived closer so I could sample some of that strawberry jam. Yummy! So that storm photo was taken during the day? Yikes it sure does get dark in your part of the world when storms hit. It darkens here also but not to that extent. It looks crazy scary! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend Sharon :)

Always enjoy visiting your blog and today was no different. You have a some great Shadow Shots. I think my favorite is the one with the little bench.
Storm clouds while a bit scary are so awesome to see and capture in pictures. I love watching the clouds. (It is storming here now as I type)
Thanks for sharing!!
