Shadow Shot Sunday...gimme dat back...

 Hey, Harriet...Shadow Shot Sunday...

 Gimme back dat summertime...

 dem hot summer breezes...

dem cicada a singing dat late summer song...

dem sweet smellin' clothes on the line...
and dem bare feets...

 dem blue, blue skies...
dem leaf filled trees...
dat hot, dry air...

and gimme back my garden (not mine) (sigh)...

but mostly gimmee back dem long country drives...
gimmee dat feelin' of open road freedom...
gimmee back dat summertime
and the love of life!

It's a drab, cloudy, 45 degree, late Autumn day here in Iowa...
a good day to work inside at the shop,
but I can dream, right!!!

Thanks for the helping of nostalgia for summer on this frosty morning!

I HAVE A LITTLE SHADOW

I have a little shadow that always follows me;
My shadow is my best friend, as anyone can see.

No matter where my feet go, my shadow’s always there—
Except, of course, at midnight with darkness everywhere!

Sharon, Summer was spent trying to stay cool, Autunm was almost as bad at times, but now it's almost gone.....eewweee that means "Winter" is coming. I dread it really. So I'll be wanting some of those Summer days back too. Smiles, Susie

hen I saw the first photo, I almost thought that the log was holding the barn up...the faded red on the structure is a testament to the old barn standing throughout the extremes of the Iowa seasons, and many of them. The country out there is much flatter than here and the simple white dwellings so honest. Nice spread out neighborhood!

Great post for the day, Sharon, and I'm wishing the same thing "gimme dat back"! Cold and dreary here in Seattle as well! Love your captures for the day! Hope you have a great weekend! Stay warm!

thanks for the trip down summer-time memory lane! it was a great visual treat and I could hear those cicadas! but it isn't time for that now, for everything there is a season, turn turn turn. it's overcast here too today, but it's warm inside and my coffee cup is full and hot, so I'm happy. you'll be preparing the ground for that garden again before you know it! thanks for the cheer this Saturday morning. happy weekend to you Sharon.

I love the old barn! We are having a very mild November - it's on track to be the mildest since records began (about 300 years ago!!)

I'm dreaming of an Australian Summer too! We've had rain-filled days and maybe one day in 7 without a jacket! (That day is not today!) But your photos are just wonderful with blue skies over a beautiful countryside! And such gorgeous big old barns!

Hope you have a sunny week with at least a trickle of warmth! But if all fails, keep that hot coffee nearby! BIGGEST HUGS!

I hate to say it, but I'm missing summer too! And back then I was tired of the hot weather, LOL. Great photos.
