Shadow Shot Sunday...Can you see my mirage...

Winter settles in, cold , dark, dreary,
winterizing...
the soul is in survival mode,
the sun shines only in the promise of Spring
deep in the basement of the Northuner's heart
cold storage,
bits of warmth cast a deceptive mirage,
as I move my chair 'round the room
hoping to harness the illusion...
hallucinations of an epic season
of sand and surf,
if only a broad-minded attempt
to enlightenment...
I lament and
mourn the retreat
of the flip flops.

In the Nor'lunds, not only do you winterize your home,
you winterize the soul, looking for a sunnier moment,
I just couldn't resist this shadow of my lil' heathen...
sittin' in her chair by the sun-warmed window,
casting a shadow on the tablecloth.
Scratchy's camera shy like her momma,
as soon as I pick it up, she runs
or turns her head...but what a sweet lil' face n shadow she casts!

It was such a glorious day Friday, 45 degrees and sunny,
but Saturday will be filled with wintry surprises...
dropping temps, below zero wind chills,
rain, sleet and ice...
must be winter fer sure!

I think I'll slip n slide on down to Australia
where they're enjoying their glorious Spring
and hopefully catching many beautiful rays AND SHADOWS...

Hey, Harriet...whassup!!!

I have spread a shadow feast.
Come, and eat your fill.

'tis bitter cold here too...the sun streaming through the windows makes me long for warmer days, less encumbered by layers of warm clothing as well.

We're to get the same cold front here too, but very little snow. Love the picture. Like Scratchy, I love sitting in a chair in the sunny window & having a little nap. Have a great "inside" weekend. Jan

Gorgeous shadow shot and beautiful, oh, so true words as well! It isn't that cold here in Seattle, but it is gray and grim!! I'm ready for trip 'down under', too! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Sharon!

Beautiful composition in that photograph. It took a moment to spot Scratchy. Hope you have everything buttoned up - it looks like a big storm heading your way. (It may be there now)! ATB!

What wonderful images and words!

Icy winds are blowing outside my window,
probably more snow clouds coming in.

Keep warm!

Your temperature was mighty close to Heaven-like! And I envy your sun which appears to be much brighter than anything I've seen all week.

I love the cozy shadow shot, and the cozy feel of your blog! I am returning to the blogging world after a long hiatus- you may remember me as Wildeve. I have missed you.

Super shadow shot ..... and as always I love your words. We have had a thaw the last two days, but with the threat of more to come.

This ShadowShot ReAlLy reminds me of my grandma's home from years ago...minus Scratchy of course, as she was a cat nut! Lovely, dreamy shot. I think I'm in a winter state of mind myself. I'm not yearning for the sun though.

I like this a lot. I love your little dog and how it blends in with all the relics. Wasn't sure he was real until I enlarged. Yet...I didn't see you in there...

What a lovely shadowy shot!

This room feels warm as the (real) wood furniture oozes warmth from the dark intricate wood grain. At least the faint winter sun filters through the window panel. Cold outside, warm inside...

I'm sure a room like that will remain cosy through the worst of winter. But do come 'down here'! It's pretty sticky though!

Lovely photo and beautiful words to boot, as always. Thanks for sharing.

Would you like some company to go to Australia??? Although it was rather balmy here today-I think it was in the 0's. I felt kinda guilty having such warm weather knowing that an entire section of this country is getting plummeted by icy cold weather.
Stay warm (will Scratchy keep you warm?)!

Soothing, mellow tones in your photo! Love the little peeking face of Scratchy!

We are still surviving rain and winds! 2 huge storms last night! The thunder in the first one rattled the windows! Cold today, so I am here in jumper + warm jeans + socked feet! Wimpering sun has appeared in the last hour, but as I type, I see that grey mist is rolling in across the bay! Is this weather crazy or what!

Tomorrow I am going to begin my holidays with a major clean up! I can't get into my soggy garden, so I thought that I would start on wardrobes! Clothes not worn get bagged and taken to a local op shop! This has become an annual tradition! I hoarded my clothes for years, but now I have a different view!

Then I need to get the house organised for my son. He is coming down from Sydney to join us for Christmas! I am so thrilled because I have not seen him for over a year! We are going to have Christmas dinner at Portsea Hotel overlooking Port Phillip Bay. It is a gorgeous venue.

Sending you warmest hugs from the Peninsula!
