Shadow Shot Sunday...Fancy that old thing...

I fancy the way the harvest sun plays
it's brilliant theme of golden haze
drawing my eye t'ward the glowing schemes
and mine of olden, olden dreams

Ebbing light of yesteryear
has washed away my elder fear
knowing now what lies in light
fearing not what's shining bright
a spiritual fog has held me strong
I fear not
what's set to come

peace of mine

Though I don't consider myself an elder yet
it's a'comin'...
I'm starting to see a certain elderly respect
from the younger generation, holding doors open,
running over to lift something or just offering help
AND
calling me Ma'am...
Now some are offended by that term, but to me it's a given of respect
and a bit of caring, besides, there are more pressing issues
to be 'put off' by,
like joint pain...now that pisses me off!
But...it is what it is, so relax and head down under to Australia
where Harriet awaits our shadows.

Sorry if I've missed commenting back to some of you,
but time has really left me without...
and as the days shorten here in the Northern hemisphere
time gets away...which in reality means...
I fell asleep in that big ol' comfy chair that sucks the life outta me after work!!!

But I think of you often old friends...

Iowa dreamin...

Junk flowers...
as you look out the front door of my lil' playhouse
you see a 4-lane
(which I hate)
but, if you have a business, this is a good thing!

Many people have asked what the heck I'm doing down at the Pink Chateau...
as my lil' studio becomes a reality and begins to show
signs of progress, as I start to prepare it for plantings in the Spring.
I attached lattice for the vines to climb, maybe morning glories,
they are such an ol'timey, country staple
and they come in white now too.

Pretty much coming to a halt for the season, I have a few folks
dropping in for soaps or just peeking out of curiosity...
I haven't hung any open signs yet, I'll do that in the spring
once my plantings have begun.

I'm still organizing the inside to see which configuration
works best for me, as a work space and as a retail space...
and organizing inventory for sale in the yard.

Lots to think about and plan for the following season,
but it's sure to come to fruition, as this Wild Thing
works her magic!

The peaceful season...Sisters Garden...

For those of you that have been...you know...
The houses, the yard, the everything
is filled to the max with great stuff
dragged in by all of us crazy dealer/pickers...

The Autumn season is filled with colors and textures
to make our home and life the nesting experience
we need to fulfill our dreams...

We know what lies ahead, so we scramble to bring in the last
bits of color before it all turns away...to Winter...

So inside we play...great cupboard Deb...
this piece is HUGE...but how cool
and what a great piece of storage or display!

A tall lil' cupboard, again, great for display...

...and ever popular in any season, fresh Lemon Verbena soap...
I also brought in juicy Pink Grapefruit, Patchouli
and Chanel...
so come on out to the farm and enjoy the Autumn,
see ya soon!

Have you ever felt alone...

still structurally sound
greying yet still
weathering many a storm
an oddity
folks wonder how it is you still stand strong

simple beauty
delicate charm
the work of a master's art
refined

the beauty lies within
in silence

as days shorten
seasons end
things get a lil' foggy
you're not really alone
you're just waiting
till the next time
a friend walks by

Then something special happens
a friend walks in
Tisha's mom
a grooming client who knows
what I'm all about
with special treats
and a special friendship
see
we are not alone

thanks Larry and Shirley

are you sure this was fat free???

Sunrise n Autumn...at my place...

See it, just now peeking out of slumber...
I wander my yard early
hoping to catch glimpses of new days
and new dreams
and newly revived junk
in my world...

and Autumn...
see it glow,
I love plantings of Kentucky creeper
because of it's Autumn splendor...
agree...
it turns my yard ablaze!

Hey, just for fun, go check out my friend Jackie at Bliss Farm Antiques...then go on to TOT's place and giver her a 'hey girl' from me in Ioway!!!

This what it's all about, friends and junk!!!

Shadow Shot Sunday...does it creep...

sun, oh glorious sun
Autumn, oh glorious Autumn
life, oh glorious life
it is the little things
that make me smile
the shadow of a fan guard
creeping along like a
Halloweenie spider
repurposed
refurbished
revived
this is what I call
retired
having the time to notice and
rebuild lost
youth and stuff
no hurry
no worry
what was the rush anyway
it just hurts
a little more
here and there
after all
it is what it is
but alas
it never hurts
to smile ;)

Hello my friends from near and far, it's that time again,
we've all gone to Harriet's house down under
where it's Sunday already, whew, where does the time fly?!

The old fan guard in the photo has been turned into a basket of sorts, revived into something useful and kinda cute, it tripped my trigger anyway and took a rather cool shadow shot too,
but then again, it doesn't take much for me...

We are having summer again here in Iowa, upper 80's again today...
and sun oh glorious sun,how long will it last...
how's the Spring coming in Australia kids...YIPPEE!

Ho Hummmm...and a bag of goodies...

Well, as summer fades away, we try to squirrel away projects
for the coming 'shut-in' time, sooooo...
I(eye)
no pun intended
have a bag of eyeballs to create with...
sweet huh...

For those of you that haven't seen them before,
I create the cutest lil' eyeball earrings ever...

Swarovski crystals dangle bright
from the bottom of each lil' orb...
almost like a tear drop, sweet!
Yup...you read it right...
your eyes do not fail...
the eyes have it...
beware, the eyes of March(whatever)
ok, enough with the eye thing,
but yes, this is what I do at the end of a season...

and dream...

Autumn art...

Frosted beauty...
and the reason I don't go into my garden in the fall...

Eeewwwwww...
spideys...OMG...
they just make my skin crawl!!!

I do realize they need a home too,
but in my garden...NOT!!!

Yes, my wiring came yesterday, so I played...

Lil' babies to guide you into the night...

Ready to sit by your bedside,
or on a shelf nearby
these babies of the evening
will not make you cry...

Heehee...well maybe...
but you can find them for sale on The Wild Thing blog,
if you dare...!

I been thinkin'...uh oh...

I have this really great ol' wallpaper in my living room at the chateau...
but it makes the room dark...sooo...

Been thinkin' of painting a white wash over it to lighten it up a bit...

It would definitely lighten it a bit, yet still show through the detail of the paper.
I've seen pictures of old faded wallpaper in those
decrepit old homes of the deep South and love the look of it.

And since my house is decrepit and old...well...
why not!!!
I've seen Ralph Lauren do it...right...
why not me...!

They're baaaack....

Feeling a bit sympathetic for the decrepitness(is that a word)
of these lil' retired babies, I decided
on a new look, they will be shelf/chair sitters...

You know, like leaning on the corner of a table or night stand...

or on a shelf/mantle...

...or on a chair...

...or the original, with bottom lighted lamp base...
I found a new wiring system that only requires a backside lobotomy...
ewwww...yes, a hole drilled in the back of the head.
The bulb simply clips in the hole allowing for the placement of the
nightlight in many more natural settings.
Yes, I said natural...
Not wanting to destroy these sweet lil' fabric bodies,
I felt this was an alternate solution...
and how versatile is that!
You can shape them in any stance, anywhere!

As soon as all my wiring comes this week,
they will be priced and for sale on The Wild Thing blog...
be afraid!!!
