Once in a landfar far away
the sun was shining
o' shining
striped trout
soar high
in the mystic sky
guides of the light
they know what I seek
in shadow I wait
a maid in the mists
somewhere slumbering
it's yet to grace
the land and the seas
of dreams
with sparkling
shimmering
promised retreat
deep into Winter
winds gather
and carry my hope
of the rising sun
far into the looming
moonlight
here's my heart
take me with you
darkness calls me home
yet I feel the warmth
of your distant brow
under the thick
cold blanket
of weathering storms
afar
I'm a child
of the bright hope
breaking the mists
o' the 'morrow
a maid o' the light
I wait wanting
the love
and the caress
of this skylark
here's my hand
take me with you
to this promised
light journey
in a land
far
far away

I long for the sun...can you tell...but not our Aussie friends, go to here to check out the rest of us looming in shadow...
I've had to go to my archives for photos, since we haven't seen the sun in days...
good thing shadows capture my attention all the time these days...
thanks Tracie for the addiction...ha!

Good morning dearie friend?
Yes, you are right. Gee, am longing to see the sunrays...
You always catches my heart with all the nice lines of your prose.
Have a blissful week-end.
Lots of warm hugs from Stockholm.
Very inspiring, Sharon!
Stuffed fish!
Missing Florida, eh? The lack of sunshine is wearing thin.
It's almost Feb!!!! Loved your words & I share your feelings. Pray for sunshine! Jan
How dreary today!
Sun’s hidden itself away!
What more can I say?
Footprints in the Mud
Super shot!
seems many of us are missing the sun...waiting-patiently waiting as to not create a frown line. january is closing out fast...there will be light at the end of this tunnel!!
great lines on the fish...had to stop and figure out what i was looking at for a moment.
have an awesome day...don't work too hard. coffee at the usual time?
Beautiful! even the shape of your poems are beautiful!
Yepp, I miss the sun and summer too..
Great post and shadow:-)
Have a nice sunday!
No need to apologize for turning to your artistic archives. It is a common policy for me, I used to take lots of pictures without looking for shadows - I captured shadows and the are fine for SSS...I like it!
I think we're all missing the sun these days! Lovely words as always and a terrific shadow shot! Hope you have a great day! Stay warm!
Sylvia
Not much sun here in SF, although it isn't nearly as cold.
Love that trout!
Lovely poem and interesting fishy photo. ;-)
I can't commiserate in Connecticut - we have been lucky to have had a lot of sun lately, including today.
Enjoy your weekend.
I always have liked the patterns & colors on trout. Today he appears to be swimming through the shadows! Nice shot.
there's a certain synchronicity between our shadow shots today.... I love your new header btw...
Lovely mysterious shot! Your poem is charming too...as always.
You can have a bit of our sun - no problems! I think it would be an excellent transaction as we had have far too much of it of late! Although, today it is raining thank goodness!
Have a lovely week!
If that lovely trout had been in Brisbane yesterday, it would have shrivelled up in the heat. It was 33ยบ Celsius - that's 91.4 Fahrenheit. And we won't even mention the humidity!
By the way, I loved the shot in your earlier post of Scratchy barking all day at the squirrels. Pure joy.
Love your poem as always, but especially love:
"I'm a child
of the bright hope
breaking the mists
o' the 'morrow..."
That is just magic!
Stunning stripey shadow! Like a strange zebra fish!
We now have warmer weather! It is like a mellow autumn day today and the sunlight is glinting magically on the sea! (Top of 20 degrees C expected!) I am sure that summer will barge in just when I return to school! But that's OK! When the students are hot they can't be bothered misbehaving! Thank you Mother Nature!
Yesterday I spent the entire day in the garden, ripping out stubborn grass and edging a garden bed! It was great exercise for body and spirit! And Shadow, our cat, has been constantly wandering round it to check out the detail!
Our kookaburras are back in force at last! 6 of them! It's wonderful hearing a morning chorus of laughter!
Hope all is well with you! Hapiness always to you and BIGGEST WARM HUGS!
Gemma
Great shadows.
My shadow shots
I identify with your longing for the sun! OK, the sun DID shine here yesterday and today and I ought to be grateful, right? Why am I also looking forward to above freezing temperatures?
Your blog was definitely warmed up with this sunny shot.
At least you can stay warm and cozy in your house with your doggie pal!
Wishing you a good weekend.

This evokes wonderful imagery. Well done post, as always.
Lovely poem as always and the fish is all ready to take you to the sun I am sure! It has been rather dull here for the last few days so I feel the same way!
A cool striped trout! Took me a moment to figure out what it was. If that trout was hanging around here right now he'd be thrown on the barbie with some snags. And those shadows would be the BBQ grill marks :)
Hope you get some sunshine soon. And I hope for some cooler weather. I just wish it was spring all year. That would suit us all I think!
Once again, you knock my socks off! OK, so I'm in Hawaii and not wearing socks, but you know what I mean! Awesome!
I loved your light journey...
Here: sunny greetings from Cairo!
Have a great week ahead!

Super shot! The weather forecast says we might get sun on Wednesday!!
Even a fish out of water can be lovely!
Very nice. I enjoyed reading this. Creative photo.
Paz
Such beautiful poem! Great shadow shot also! And of cource I long for the sun and spring :)
A land far away,
seductive and bright—I dream
of it every night!
Would love to send some sun your way if that would mean we had some to share! Alas no sun here and like you this week my photo comes from my archives!
Enjoy your week!
Wasn't sure what it was at first, then I realized, what a funky fish!
What an interesting shot and shadows!
Love your poem!
Thanks for your comment! Lovely shadow shot you show us here!
There is something fish about that picture. The arc of the trout does not resemble the Poisson distribution!
Cheers!

Of course, I meant to say, "something fishy.
Oh well . . .

Sun, glorious sun! How we wish we'd have it bask down on us as well! Loved the post below - those earings are a hoot!!
Thank you for the comment on my grass by the pond shot. I leave the grasses and anything I can in the garden for the birds to hide in during the winter. I also love the look of them and I am trying to find beauty in any season..but winter is really getting to me here in western NY..sigh....You do have a way to have perfect prose with your photos... Lovely.. Michelle
He really is a striped trout isn't he...and a big one.
Sorry your stuck in the gloom. I know how miserable that can be:(
Me too ... I long for the sun too. Lovely post.
Have a great week!
