Shadow Shot Sunday...Autumn & the river...

 The beautiful Kentucky creeper,
a vine that burns scarlet in the Fall,
not many leaves this year...drought!

But a trip into the city yielded a surprise.
the Celebration Belle...

We can dream large when a sight like this floats by...ahhhh...
back in the day!

Hey, Harriet n the shadow shooters

Wow, you seem to have more red leaves in IA than we in New England - Patti went to southern VT last week, and even the yellow leaves were lacking. Too much rain this year I guess...The boat is a pleasant diversion on the river!

Oh, I love those rich red leaves, Sharon! and what a terrific shadow shot for the day! I also love the paddle boat! When I lived in New Orleans I took one down the Mississippi and it was such fun! Hope you have a great weekend!

the red leaves are stunning against the wooden house of birds. the leaves are trying hard to hold on in the wind today...but i don't believe they are going to win.

thankful for the warmth of the house...hope your weekend is all you dream it to be.

Beautiful autumn colours - my favourite colours to make quilts with. Many years ago I was on a (very small) paddle steamer on the River Clyde in Glasgow - yours is much grander!!

Our river here used to have barges and such "in the olden days", but alas, it's not deep enough for them now. Great ShadowShots girl!! Happy SSS!

Love the reds you captured. Here in my part of VA the yellows are out in all of their glory and the reds are just beginning to pop out. Fall is always a mystical time of the year being that we never know what colors we are going to see on which day. genie

Gorgeous scarlet! Dynamic! And the paddlewheeler is a tourist feature now I presume! That would be such a grand experience!

In my world, my son has dropped by! He drove from Sydney for the weekend! So thrilled to see the crazy character!

yesterday we showed him the London Bridge Ocean Beach with the amazing rock features and then we took him to the Enchanted Maze Garden at Arthurs Seat! He was like a big kid let loose in a toy store! He tried all the mazes and went into the 3D maze several times!

And then we had to drag him away from the slide! He adored that!

We were all exhausted at the end of the day but he had the biggest smile on his face! That was worth the effort!

Still crazy weather here! More wintry than Spring though there is the occasional burst of beautiful sunlight! The blossoms are very confused! Some trees even look as if they are testing out future Autumn colours! So weird! And heaps of wind!

Hope all is well in your world and Scratchy is not creating too much havoc!

Super HUGS for you and Scratchy! Have a wonderful week!

Is Kentucky creeper the same as Virginia creeper? Or are they cousins?

(With apologies to William Blake)

Shadow, shadow lurking dark
In a corner of the park,
What immortal eye can see
Your transcendent symmetry?

I have been places where they had these boats, but have never been on one.

What beautiful color the Kentucky Creeper has. A nice surprise the boat must have been. Your shots are great, the beautiful sky really makes a great bacground for the boat. I have always wanted to ride on one of those river boats. I guess I need to add that to my bucket list. Nice photos.

Nice shots! I wonder if that is one of the boats that comes all the way up to Saint Paul in the Fall. That would be more my kind of cruise.
Been sick here, laying low. Hope you're doing good.

We have that creeper but we call it the Virgina creeper! Isn't that funny! What a cool paddle boat. Never been on a real one.
