Shadow Shot Sunday...'tis the season...

Did I mention smoking kills...
by now, all of my fellow SSS shooters know of
my taste for the strange...
my daughter and I are changing the profile of our shop,
we've come over to the dark side...
not just for the Halloween season, this will be
our lil' shop of horrors...
we're trying out a new niche in hopes of gathering
new clientele, since the old ones just aren't buying...
sooooooo...out with the old and in with the new!
Lots of funky, fun stuff coming in,
as you can see by my post below...
open minds are what we want, not the hecklers,
people who just want to have fun, that's what it's
all about anyway...right...
Hey, Harriet...she knows how to make fun happen!

Missing your fun and humorous post this past months.

I was busy and away last summer. Hopefully coping up with SSS players now.

Scary beauty, that is!

Happy SSS.

hugs,

The skull and cigarette are a perfect pairing I'd say. The beauty of your shop is that it is eclectic - that creativity is why people shop there. You want conformity? Go to Wal-Mart!

yep- it's a goulish season! Great pic!

oh my first belly laugh of the day. I'm intrigued by the writing behind the skull. and it is appropriate that the skull is clenching a cigarette between the teeth. I suspect that it's the economy that's the issue, and not the shop itself. but hey, out with the old, in with the new is always a good thing. jeepers creepers you've managed to get me into the halloween mood. happy SSS to you Sharon. have a fun weekend.

I love your photo and caption!! I understand your decision to change your focus - in these recessionary times we have to market what sells, not what we wish people would buy because we love it I hope you have hit on a niche market!

Seriously, are there hecklers?! It seems everyplace but eateries are having a hard go of it right now. You always have such unique wares, it has got to be the economy...I know I see so many cool things I'd love to acquire, but have to hold tight to the purse strings and say "some day".

I just caught up reading past posts. Such fun! That Melissa from the farm looks like Joan Baez, doesn't she?? Happy SSS!!

Love your shadow shot, and you know how much I enjoy your sense of humour.
Good on you for changing the profile of the shop, it's always a good thing to re-think how you do things.

Do you think your skeleton has a Humphrey Bogart look about him with that cigarette?

There's a magic shop at Rye, about 15 minutes south of me on the peninsula. It is unusual to see a shop like this amidst all the beach style shops! But it works! Each time I go to Rye, this shop is very busy! I think people like a change! I will be posting its sign on my Mornington Peninsula blog this week!

Starting full time work at school this week! No more part time! It's a trial run to see if I (my arm) can maintain the hour drive each way each day! Two teachers (who live nearby) are willing to share driving me if I can't quite manage! I am so grateful!

Meanwhile, I am doing an online professional development course. We teachers are supposed to do so many hours each year and I have done none this year! Most venues are right in Melbourne, over an hour's drive away! That was not an option, so I decided to check out some online ones! Found a 9 hour PD on OneNote which teaches new ways of storing daily lessons, research, grades etc. That was for me! I can do it any time, just as long as I complete 9 hours! It's all good!

Last week I walked 10 km along the coastline enjoying one day when there was more sunlight! I was more than a little weary at the end, but it was exhilerating! I found a replica of an old 1800's lime kiln near Rye beach that I didn't know existed! It was fascinating!

All the best in your new venture! Hope your Autumn is gentle and warm and sunny!

Biggest hugs!

You will be pleasantly surprised by how popular your Little Shop of Horrors will be! People love the beauty of the dark and mysterious :-) I'm thoroughly enjoying what you are doing!

Killer shot!! LOL! I love the changing out of the shop to get new traffic in. Why not? Godd luck with it-I hope it works! At least you'll have fun doing something new.

This all looks like great fun! Best of luck doing what you need to do at the shop. I have been involved with Days of the Dead for years now. (My favorite holiday). Each week during October many of us are writing about the Art of Remembering. Your new store set up is right there with us, sharing the fun.

Peace
