Shadow Shot Sunday...Promise...

Crisp tendrils wrap 'round
twirls in my garden's winter
soon all will be lost

shadows of Winter
linger still in a season
so dreaded of me

yet the beauty still
haunts my soul to distraction
in my heart of hearts

I promise to thee
to open welcoming arms
next Win'try season

Yeah, WHATEVER...
I'm not a Winter person, but I live in my soul state of IOWA...
the heartland of my being, so it is what it is...I stay
and deal with winter...
and I promise, these are the last shadow shots of snow, but I thought
what a fun epitaph to Winter...in my world...
now, it's on to Spring!
Ol' man Winter, you don't scare me, the sun is getting too high
for you to harm...so now I'm heading to work in the two new inches of snow
from the secrets of last eve...cause I know what lies ahead...
SPRING!!!

Sorry kids down under, I know Autumn will soon be upon
and we'll soon be seeing those wonderful shots at Harriet's place...
and I hope all of our Kiwi friends are safe and sound!

Namaste

these are lovely, shadows always look so nice in the snow, though I'm happy to see the end of winter and the arrival of spring

I can imagine accidentally sitting on that chair--and freezing my butt off!

MANY SHADOW-SEEKERS SAY

Many shadow-seekers say,
“Oh, the one that got away!”
Why are you so uptight, folks?
Can’t you take light’s little jokes?

Oh, I do love these, Sharon! And while it does look cold, there's somehow a whisper of spring and I can hear it! Terrific! Hope your weekend is off to a good start, Sharon, stay warm!

always a pleasure Sharon. I feel that same about the angle of the sun - whatever snow we get will succumb to those warming rays and soon be forgotten. I love that photo of the chair and its shadow. happy SSS and have a beautiful week!

The shadows are not as long as earlier in the season - that means the spring sun is almost overhead, and the temps will grow as the shadows shrink. Amazing that once seemed far away is inching that much closer - and we are starting to sense its approach. Lovely shadows (in any season :)

A fine epitaph to winter! Lovely to know that spring is so close--it seems to be here already, but we know there's always a March blast to burn those poor little buds emerging!! I always think about you when I am in FLorida--it ain't the place we remember--so enjoy your heartland!

I like your winter shadows...even if you are not a "winter person." :)

Even though you don't like Winter so much (I wonder how I guessed?) you get some fantastic shots.
Love the "whatever"!
And even though Autumn is in the air over here, we never get the kinds of cold you experience - I'm not sure how I'd handle it either.

Your outdoor landscape reminds me of your shop with all the pretty white and natural, worn wood. So soothing to the eyes. Thanks for the "hugs" for my children! We just might look you up this summer while we're home for a wedding.

It the last weekend of spring here but I'm more than happy to pass on the warmer weather to you now. It's your turn! I do have to confess that I'll miss your lovely winter shadows! But I'm looking forward to your spring ones :)

Have a great week Sharon!

Very pretty winter photos! The last one particularly has a most appealing ambience!

This weekend I have fought off an urge to do school paper work of the administrative kind! Those of higher wisdom have decided to rearrange what they want! In plain words, programming needs to be re-done! And I thought I was organised! I'll do some tomorrow at lunch-time at school! Aaaaaaargh! Why can't we just get on with teaching!

On a lighter note, we saw some summer sun yesterday! I couldn't believe the warmth and the glow all around us! Even though today is all grey and rainy, somehow it feels OK after the wonder of yesterday!

I've been thinking a few crazy thoughts lately! (More crazy than usual!) I'm dabbling with the idea of just maybe going back to Tasmania - the northern area! Getting work was hard some years ago, so I moved to Melbourne! Now I wonder if I should try again! I still miss the beauty of Tasmania, even though I was only there a few years! We'll see! I'll dream on!

Today I threw myself into lots of serious house cleaning, because the next couple of weeks will be rather tough and busy at school! I want my sanctuary to be OK to help me ride it all out!

And you sound as busy busy as ever! I think I see wings sprouting round your shoulders!

Enjoy the days leading into your beloved Spring!

SUPER HUGS dear Sister!

beautiful photos. The one of the chair is my favorite, such a wonderful composition. And you poem is enjoyable as well. I thought perhaps winter was moving on a few days ago, but I woke up to new snow falling this morning, and it is oh so lovely!

Love the rocking chair photo. Would love to see the same chair on green grass. I've been road trippin. for many Midwestern soul brothers and sisters, you're one of them. Sending some sunshine, but alas, it snowed in L.A. yesterday!

Peace.

Love the juxtaposition of the weathered gray against the pristine white. Melancholy much?
Spring comes just a little earlier in my part of Texas and doesn't last long so I try to enjoy it as much as possible while it's here.

I am looking forward to spring also, and I live in northern California. :) We have had many dreary days this year....no sun for a few weeks can be depressing.
Your photos are so pretty.

looks a lot like what western washington looks like today, only without as much sun. snow is always better with sun. simply wonderful!
