Shadow Shot Sunday...Cottonwood...

I follow my scent
a journey
down ancient trails
I danced with wolves
brothers
sisters
clans
gone
mists of gray smoke
drift on woodland winds
silent wings
ancient canis
wild dog
wind spirit
ghosts
cottonwood clan
gone
lost souls
howl in the mists
I honor
spirit
the deathbed
is the way of it
in my realm
sorrow leads
as I walk
my path
to bay
at the moon
alone

To honor...the Cottonwood Pack of Yellowstone Park...all gone to white man's ignorance...6 adults culled and pups left to die alone...a total of 60 destroyed, when will it end.

Please send your protests through the Defenders of Wildlife ...help stop 'the man'!

There is ancient DNA in these eyes, my little wolf, with the heart of the beast...a sad tribute to something that stirs my soul on this Shadow Shot Sunday, please go here to see the other's shadows, it's Sunday in Australia you know.

Beautiful....haunting....heartbreaking. Assassinating animals as they try to survive...why not co-exist?

After an absence of a couple of months, it's wonderful to read your remarkable prose. Worth the wait!

it is sad...how can we expect to get along with nature when we can't even get along with each other?

What a heart-wrenching post! The words in your poem play the strings of deep melancholy so beautifully! And that final photo of your little one with such incredible expression in the eyes is the ultimate scratch on the heart!

O! And loved the picket fence of regimented shadows too! Very symbolic!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and not working too hard!

BIG HUGS!

wonder where all this wanton destruction will leave us all....:(

touched by your post, and charmed by that little fellow.

The shadow of the fence offers a nice angular pattern to the friendly canine. His little shadow is a cute as he is! The unconditional love of a dog is wonderful!

I can only agree with what most of your other readers have said regarding the destruction of such a wonderful part of the animal world! Your post is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

Have a good week!

Wonderful shadows - haunting poem
It is tragic what humans have wrought on the wolf and other creatures. Thanks for highlighting it!

Beautiful sharon. I read about the cottonwood pack. How discusting we are . Kill it. That's the mentality of many ignorant folks. Alot of times i say "God, I HATE PEOPLE" I'm getting to be a curmugon a crabby appleton. All because i'm so fed up with things like this!

That dog has seen too much, knows too much, I can tell he takes good care of you.

Great pattern you captured in your lil fency.

Oh... sad to think that no one can get along whether human nor animals.

You always open my heart and mind with your nice and truthful words. Thanks for sharing me everything I peep in here.

Beautiful verse. My children love watching Yellowstone Park documentaries over and over. Since a child, I believe there's a spiritual magic with some wild animals, the wolf and eagle are the first to come to mind.

That's just insane!!! I had no idea this was happening to your wolves. I feel so ignorant! Thanks for bringing it to our attention and for providing that link. I'll head over there now.

On a brighter note, I love your shadow shot and your little Scratchy is very charming!

I always tell my children, the smarter we become, the dumber we are. Once we lose respect for life in any form..a sad world we become.
What a sweet face on your dog..just beautiful..
Have been freezing here..cold weather came in so fast. Hope you are still enjoying fall weather.

That is a brilliant set of shadows and then the shadow of those old dogs in the eyes of the young dog.

Great shadow shot and love how you tied the symbolism into the shadows of the past. Very moving and powerful cause. :)

Thank you for bringing this cruelty and the link to our attention.

Your pup is such a sweetheart and so photogenic. That last shot looks like it would be a great wall poster.

Our pups ARE the shadows of wolves. I like the grainy look of the photo. Do you ever visit "The Daily Coyote"?
