Shadow Shot Sunday...dem bones...

Whilst taking some shots for Etsy,
I couldn't help but notice the delicate patterns
my subjects were making on their stage...
lil' wire baskets from a Victorian era gone away...

Dem bones...
the skull of a duck I found while wandering
my field of dreams...

Dem bones...The Junk Asylum...
the new location is really coming 'round...
Lorie, with the help of many friends and family
is really pulling it all together...
THE SHOP LOOKS GREAT KIDS!!!

The boney cupboard that will hold the soaps
and candle tarts...

Dem bones...

Dem bones...

Dem decorating bones...
this is what it takes in our world of antiques
and junk and craft...
an artisans eye for fun...!

And for good measure sail away down under
and check out the shadow shooters...
we know how to have fun!

Living in glass houses...

Well...Barb @ Sisters's Garden has been at it again...
does the creativity ever stop...
heck no!
Barb had the most cutest EVER lil' glass house
created with leftover windows and doors...
agree!!!

Don't know about you, but I just want to sit
and sip a mint julep and admire the work
that went into creating this lil' gem!

Everywhere windows of varying sizes...

Chippy whites and the green of the Earth...
have I died and gone to heaven...?

Out the back door(s)...
his and hers doors perhaps, but,
oh so chippy!
It even looks like there's an upstairs...

Now the fun part...
the decorating, wouldn't you love to play in here!

With the wedding of her son over and
only a memory away,
Barb is ready and chomping at the bit to get this
precious jewel filled to the brim...

Now about that mint julep...

Do you support puppy mills...

Look at this face,
she didn't ask for the life she was given...
but just the same she was purchased at a pet store.
Most puppies are pet mill puppies like it or not.
If you breed your dog for profit,
you are a puppy mill!!!

This sweet lil' female poodle was purchased to breed
with a chihuahua...now why would you want
to do that, this is a poodle...
that is a chihuahua, talk about ruining the breeds!

Zoe was so matted, I literally had to peal the hair off.
She was given to my client, as the woman that
purchased her couldn't control her, so she severely
neglected her. She told him that she was recently
groomed, now in my experience,
this dog has never been groomed...
EVER, she's just one year old.

The hair on the legs is so matted, it's like taking off
a sock, I have to cut up the center and peal it back
little by little, that's an eighth of an inch at a time,
but she was trooper, sat perfectly.

Ahhhh...freedom...just imagine!!! She also has a
bad bladder infection causing her to seep urine all
over her fur creating quite a stink
and raw skin to her entire back end...
so sad!

Not the classiest of do's, but who cares,
she's a new dog, with a new loving home!
Think twice about that cute lil' puppy from the
pet store or a private owner...
ASK QUESTIONS...
ask to see the parents and the facilities, if they
have nothing to hide they will show you!
Don't fall for the statement that they are
breeding a dog that won't shed...
ALL DOGS SHED!!!
That is what creates mats and dust bunnies.
Think twice,
DO NOT SUPPORT PUPPY MILLS

Friends...it's a small world, huh!

A fun new friend in my world
and a mutual friend as well...
I can't remember how I stumbled upon Gayle,
but I'm sure glad I did, a soul sister indeed.
She made these awesome earrings for me
and my friend Cathie.
Gayle has the fun blog A Vintage Green Life
and makes the most wonderful jewelry,
has a terrorist corgi and shares our love of
saving the planet...well, being green!
Thanks Gayle...I LOVE THEM!!!

As I said, mutual friends, I find out my
bestest bud Cathie,
"This Girls Art" , is also a friend of Gayle'.
Cathie stopped by my shack yesterday bringing
gifts from afar...Cathie lives in Lone Tree
and has been a soul sister for as long as I can remember,
she collects dolls as well, but is purging her home
and brings me treasures shared from her collections,
two new(creepy) dolls for my collection...
SWEET!!!

Don't you just love the decrepit state these
wee ones are in...the damage on the first doll was
perpetrated by her cockatoo 'Greta',
who will destroy anything not encased in iron...
what a hoot(or squawk)!
But how we three got together is just fun,
Cathie says if Gayle lived closer(Washington)
we'd be dangerous...we have similar tastes
in strange, love of Nature and saving the planet,
but especially love those spare moments we have
finding new friendships from afar,
makes our world just a little brighter...
You goils are DA BOMB!!!

Thar be rain...!

Oh glorious thunderclouds forming to the South,
it wasn't much of a rain, just a heavy downpour
lasting only a few minutes...

But, we'll take anything we can get at this point...

More storms are brewing this morning
and temps have dropped...
'scuse me while I go sacrifice a goat to the Gods...

Bones , dem bones, dem dry bones...

Our perfect rainy spring had us knowing that
our flower gardens were gonna be lush...
and they were...for a while!

Sunburn on everything, the hosta have sunspots...

The beautiful daylilies are scrawny, not lush
and full of buds...

The tomaters are cooking on the vines, tomorrow
I'll have to rig up some sorta shade for the growing fruits,
GEESH!!!

Zucchini and spaghetti squash wilt under the heat,
but are still producing ...so far...

I've never seen Brussels's sprouts curl up their
leaves before in extreme heat and it looks
like I won't be getting anymore broccoli buds either!
BUT...

When all is doom and gloom, there is always
something to smile about at the pink shack...
THE HEATHEN...
can she pose or what...LOL!

Lil' pink houses...for you and me...

Yesterday, whilst avoiding the outside world...
I decided to redo my summer studio blog.

I thought it would be fun to chronicle living in
a pink house, fondly called "my shack"...
I'm going to expose all the warts
and wrinkles of the lil' shanty.

When I bought the house, my Dad told me I was NUTS,
but always the optimist, I could see her inner beauty.
Hey, I'm an artist and sort of a renaissance kinda gal...
I stand apart from the norm, it cracks me up when
I tell people where I live, they say...
YOU LIVE THERE...it's PINK...
REALLY PINK!!!

But I have grown to love the abstractness of the
lil' dwelling, as it's not for everyone, but it's
my home of the brave(and crazy)...
and SCRATCHY.

So in this revived blog, I'm gonna expose it all...Linkyou can catch it on my sidebar at
"Lil' Pink Houses"
I love playing grown-up in this old relic,
rearranging the furniture ALL THE TIME,
creating new venues of me...
today I'm a gypsy,
tomorrow I'm a farmer or
a hippie and a chicken herder,
but I'm always a junk whore, lusting after the
best piece out there and arranging it into my mix...
so yer gonna be exposed to it all, cobwebs
and dust bunnies...if yer scared,
CHANGE THE CHANNEL,
cuz it is what it is...
FUN TO THE 9TH!!!

Goodbye old friend...

Alas, you become a monument to my past labors,
a humble yard ornament to remind me of
times past...and blisters!

My new best friend...
my Earthwise tiller/cultivator.
Having owned a Mantis tiller back in the day,
I loved the way the lil' beast handled,
it was light weight and easy to control,
but it was gas, so I was nonstop cleaning out
the gas lines trying to get the booger to start...
a lawnmower mechanic couldn't get it to work,
soooooooo...

I decided to go with the electric model...
it's so quiet, good thing for my neighbors since I'm
up with(before)the chickens...

My main concern was getting through the
brome grass that grows all over my meadow...
a cinch, it whirled right through it.
You can see how dry everything is, so the tilling
was easy. Maybe I'll plant a cover crop since
it's too dry to do anything else, it'll enrich my
sandy, loamy soil until the compost is ready.
I get first dibbies on Dad's maple leaves,
he has 3 huge trees...SWEET!

Still no honey bees, but the hummers are loving
the beebalm and Turk's cap lilies,
as well as the bumblebees...

Whilst I sip the nectar of the
garden goddess...iced tea,
sweetened with a bit of agave nectar...
ahhhh, sweet summer...
must you always leave!!!
