A Room With a View...Shadow Shot Sunday

A room with a view,
solace within...
the hearth,
the ol' rocking chair
a tamed wild beast
asleep at my side...
and a book perhaps,
feeding my growth
in a gentle retreat longed for so,
as sweet, soft violins
serenade my hearts beat...
surround sound for the soul,
I long to gaze
into what lies within,
a yearning...
perhaps a longing,
do I know...
I gaze out from the inside
o' my oasis, my retreat,
to dwell in the shade of the promise
to keep.
Shadow you shelter me,
your jewelled cuffs
harness a day's light
in small comforts I have known...
'tis steady as the hour,
the hour in my retreat.
From the inside or out,
I am warmed by the moments
in time that I feel,
a yearning, a longing, perhaps...
in my room with a view.
OK...now I feel all cozy inside, having said that...it is now that time again...SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY...Hey, Harriet . I can't believe you haven't joined in yet, you are missing the fun and the joy of seeing what you never noticed before. Just sign in, take some photos and make a comment on the rest of the shooters shots...and that's it...FUN.

Your poem reminds me of my screened in backporch. It's my favorite place & I know the days are coming when I can't be out there but for now it's the perfect place to be. Jan

My room with a view is looking at snow on the mountains again. (They just don't look the same in their summer skin, all bare and stark.) Snow!

I love the shadows on the house siding.

Your window is almost like sacred magic ~ wandering free from the outside in and inside out with just a hint of flickering shadows to spice it a little! Gorgeous pic!

And your poem! As Max Richter's music weaves its spell, so your words wing their way quietly to the soul!

First of all, beautiful, beautiful picture. The house is as beautiful as the shadows falling on it. Second of all, lovely poem. So calming!

Love that window! This is such a charming image! Shabby-Chic shadows! I also enjoyed your poem. I liked it a whole lot better than the film of the same name. I fell asleep while viewing that film. That certainly wasn't the case while reading your poem :) Have a wonderful weekend...I'm thinking you are only half way through yours...

I loved your slug whisperer comment!

you have a beautiful home. As for the taxidermy thing, it was meant to be a nod to the hobby of Norman Bates from Psycho and the joke was slightly inspired by a joke from the late comedian Mitch Hedburg, who said, "I think severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer."

I really like this poem and all the perspectives you weave through it.

The house is mysterious but inviting.

What a most perfect window if there ever was one! Salvage gothica...

I love your poem too- my retreat room is my studio- so filled with light and wonderful treasures to make things from, and the window is shaded from the bright sun. My view is an old fence and a big daisy bush- comforting but not too distracting!
