Can we talk...

Back in the day when the pink chateau was a shop, we didn't put on a screen door because of the inconvenience of having to move furniture through it all the time...but I have always wanted one, mainly to keep the heathen in and the fauna out...

Well I was looking through my stash of doors at the Candle Shed the other day and this cool ol' door had the perfect dimensions. So I brought it home and tried it on for size...almost perfect, but in case you hadn't noticed, perfect isn't in the equation at the chateau.

Now, the dilemma...to paint or not to paint...there is something just so countrified about the old green that just warms my heart...as if Granny chose this color to match the Nature outside...and to hide the fingerprints of a thousand trips into and outta her world. It somehow just fits with the color of the swing and the old rocking chair...just screaming Granny's' house.

But, white would look cool too, as it would match the rest of the trim...but then it would sooooo not be me...right!?

So gimme yer thoughts and I'll take to heart and come up with an answer that will sooth our souls...now if I could just manufacture a squeak each time I opened...life would be perfect!

You can hear the squeak can't you...ha!

I say distress it with black. Hey just out of curiosity, is your kitchen still painted like being in a watermelon looking out? I didn't know if you had changed that from way back when. I liked it when I saw it. The squeak and the slam are built right in, just stay away from door stoppers and WD40.

Paint it white--but give it a chippy look.

NO! Keep it green!! It's perfect! Any old door can be white. This one's got personality and patina.

I'm with Willow, definitely green.

My immediate thought was to paint it white but the more that I look at it, I think it should stay green.

Leave it green for awhile, and after you look at it for a few weeks, it will become clear as day whether to paint it, and what color! I think Laurie and LuLu are no longer setting up at Lakewood, or so I've heard---they do the Scott's Market on the second weekend in Atlanta.

Howsa about dry brushing some white (and even a little pink) then lightly sanding. I think Granny would be proud!

Absolutely GREEN!!!! With a pink house, why would you paint that gorgeous perfect door and ruin it??? If you were afraid of color you wouldn't be pink !!!!
Green, my dearest, green !!!
