I Weep...

at my dog drifting away in the arms of the sun
at the sun blazing through tissue soft petals
at the call of the Whip-poor-Will on the tallest branch
at the lone wolf fading into dusk
at tall grasses catching an afternoon breeze
at goslings on parade
at the call of a pheasant in tall fields of corn
at gir'gling streams meandering through woods
at prairies and wetlands all gone away
at the oceans never-ending serenade
at whale song and dolphin dance
towering oaks and Spanish moss
at the smell of damp earth
at clouds
overpopulation, chemical pollution and sub-divisions
at kittens
at puppies
the wild wan'dring rose
at tenors and cellos weaving grace to the glory
at puppy mills and aerial shootings
cock fights
bear bating
bull fighting
seal clubbing
whale slaughter
genocide
terrorism
different tears
of joy
of sorrow
I weep
at
the
darkness
of
man

Ah, Sharon, we were born fifty years (maybe a hundred) too late. Had we lived back then we would never know how our children poisoned the earth.

Somehow, I think of you quietly sitting on your rocking chair on the verandah, just watching the gentle fall of rain on a grey day. And the words seem to emerge on the page.

You read them softly.

We all listen, humble, as they drift our way on the global breezes.

And we all share a moment of silence, of respect together.

Beautiful!

Love how the chair seems to be the center of attention yet you still catch the little details like the birdhouse and hoe leaning on the tree. Nice.

You certainly do have a way with words. Tomorrow the sun will shine and life will be brighter again. We had the same dreary day but funny, I just wanted to sleep. You're a woman of many words & I love reading them. Happy Thurs. Jan

Absolutely soul-ful. Mesmerizing and makes you weak and weep. I share the sentiments of all who left a message to you.
