Shadow Shot Sunday...I am Summer's Child...

I am geraniums
and gliders in the backyard
and blue skies of promise
and good future.

I am bare feet
and pony tails in the heat of the day
and Bermuda shorts and tank tops
and the promise of play.

I am screened porches
and lace curtains on the breeze
white sheets on clotheslines
and the new scented day.

I am dew drops on petals
and rainbows after the storm
I am puddles and dew worms
and fishing by the stream.

I am summer
and I'm warm and I'm beautiful
I am constant and fruitful
and my playful promise unfurls.

I am a child
I am summer
I am sunshine
and s'mores...

Shadow Shot Sunday...where is the time rushing off to...soon it will be July and summer in full force...head on down to Australia where it's winter...how weird is that...why can't it be summer all year long???
Thanks Tracy for this wonderful meme and all of our wonderful new friends...

I would love to have that glider on my porch! It would go with my glass of lemonade quite nicely! Hope the storm didn't get you too bad...

Can't decide if I like "I am sunshine and s'mores..."
or "I am summer and I'm warm and I'm beautiful"
better.....hmmm.....

I know I love that glider!

Happy SSS

I never really thought of putting it into words, it has always been just an emotion for me, but those words really described me...i am summer's child. barefooted always, outside more than in, the breeze thru the open windows, the sheets and clothes blowing in the breeze on the clothesline..just sitting on the porch with coffee and staring for long stretches into nothing particular but watching the day... i am definitely a child of summer.
yesterday with company here from downstate, i was of course barefoot, which they are accustomed to, and we were going out to eat and i realized almost to the car that i didn't have shoes on. had to come back into the house, often to FIND shoes to put on.
thanks for such a great tribute to summer!
in fondest.. Tilda

you put to words what my heart feels...and soon it will be july...with no "real" summer weather here to speak of...which leads me to be grateful for each day that is given and to enjoy it to the fulliest.

have a beautiful summer weekend my friend.

see ya later for coffee.

So in love with the picture, that great glider, geraniums & great poem....and, yes, now we have a hankerin' for some s'mores now!!
Geraniums always make us think of our grandma, who during the fall would pinch off geraniums blooms from her geraniums, her friend's geraniums, etc...and proceed to start roots, and grown geraniums in her windows...all of them...all winter long - ready to plant in May & do it all over again!
Have a wonderful weekend Sharon!

How beautiful. I just love the shot and it looks so inviting. Nothing more peaceful than a glider. Happy SSS.
You know, I don't think I have ever had a s'more. Well, it is never too late..

Beautiful colours and shadows in your photo!

I presume a glider is a garden seat!??? (I don't know that term except when used for planes without engines and a glider possum!)

And your poem is magical! Lovely feeling of contentment in it!

They are so pretty!

Hey Sharon! Another great shadow shot, and a poem to bring back memories of childhood summers...at least for me. Summer in Florida zaps me, even after 30 years...your poem brought back summers in Massachusetts...thank you, poetess. *elaine*

Phew! I was feeling rather silly for not knowing what a glider was but after reading fellow Aussie Gemma's (Greyscale Territory) comment I feel less silly. Must be an American term. I love your glider (bench?) and the splash of sweet red and the shadows. The angle is fab also. Wonderful photo and poem!

Love the poem, the glider and the red geraniums. I will be happy when summer does get here!

I love the double dose of shadows in this shot-the one of the geraniums and the one of the back of the bench which is below the geraniums.
Lovely!

Geraniums are one of my favorites and they really set off the old glider.

I sure wish I had your talent for poetry.

have a great week.

Love the red flower w/ the white background from the beautiful bench. It's perfect colour combination this summer.

Have a blissful Sunday!

I love old gliders. I've been "saving" one, stored in pieces along the side of the house for, let's see, more than 20 years now. Perhaps this will be the decade it gets painted and assembled...

Those geraniums look lovely on that white bench. Great shadows too.
Oh yeh and summer all year long would be great. Over here it is dreary, rainy and a little cold right now.
Have a good week!

What wonderful shadows.. my mom loves geraniums. Right now though, the thought of a s'more makes me a bit nauseated. We just got back from taking my dad down to North Carolina for a special Father's Day prime rib dinner.... you would have to roll me in the house.

Great....now where am I supposed to sit? This bench is full of shadows!
