Just another day in my world...

I love this new soap, Brown Sugar & Fig...a sweet scent of sugar, yet an exotic mix of fruity fig thrown in for good measure...delectable!!!

I like funk...however, not for everyone, you have to be in a different frame of decorating for this piece of furniture, it's distressed and grunged white, drawers left natural and a grain sack rough cut for a door on the closet side. A cute lil' mirror tops the drawers for a tidey little place to view yer hairdo. These were handy lil' dressers for hotels and boarding houses, back in the day when we weren't obsessed by walk-in closets harboring tons of clothes and shoes...just a place to set your hat and gloves.

Always adored, a bouquet of roses on porcelain lamp bases all to be seen at Friend's Candle Shed's new location...

Oh, did I mention the tornado that slowly passed by my property yesterday afternoon...I was at the mall working when the mall maintenance man came flying in the door and said get to shelter, there's a tornado down by the airport heading toward town...
WELL...
I live just a mile from the airport and there was only one thing on my mind...
SCRATCHY!!!
So I flew out the door for my truck and headed South straight into the eye of the beast...

The storm was just raising it's ugly head over the bluff and heading straight for my house, when it shifted to the East toward Fruitland, the town that was devastated in 2007 from another twister.

The thing that upset me was the fact that there were no sirens going off, new city policy, it goes off just once as a warning, we didn't hear it at all in the mall. If I would've been home working, all I would've seen is storm clouds brewing from my vantage point, I drove out on the highway for this view. Thankfully I have a storm radio that goes off, but if I'm outside and don't hear it to take shelter...well...

Fortunately there was no damage to property as this storm sailed over the river into Illinois...whew!
A close call!

Holy cow....I would HAVE to have a basement if I lived up there! Are you in "tornado alley"? (My mom always said she hated the tornados when we lived up there--I was too young to remember) I know Scratchy appreciated your bravery!

Yeah Sass, we live in tornado alley, but if they don't use the sirens, we'll be in a world of hurt!

Stupid city!

I still remember - my mom brought me to see The Wizard of Oz when it first came out. That tornado scene scared the living daylights out of me! Something I will never forget.

That is one ominous, threatening sky, Sharon! Our town has taken just the opposite tack with emergency warnings - they have posted "Tsumani Warning" signs along the coast, even though we've never had anything remotely like a tidal wave... Go figure.

We did have a 5.7 earthquake last night - hoping the "big one" is way off in the distant future.

This is my first visit to your blog. I just love your sentiments on life. Boy that photo of the tornado just brings "life" to a whole different view, doesn't it. Oh how quickly things can change.
Well I am going to go look around your blog some more. Have a great week.

Whew! thank goodness it took a turn and missed you guys. As a previous poster mentioned, I was jolted out of my desk chair last night and when I stood up it felt like a jack hammer was under my feet! My old birdcage on a stand almost tipped over but no damage, so another Whew!!
The new soap scent is sounding yummy!
Love your new junk..was thinking of you as I was watching the Picker Boys on tv last night. Man oh man..did he ever get some bargains on all those advertising signs! $25? $50? those were worth hundreds and I always have to laugh when they post the value as only double from what they paid. Who are they kidding? heeheehee
