Shadow Shot Sunday...The Old Atlas...

It's sum, sum, summertime...
sittin' on the swing
spittin' out the seeds
swattin' at the skeeters
puttin' in the veggies
openin' the winders
slamminin' the screen door
barefoot toesies
pickin' posies
sunburned nosies
wormin' fish hooks
campin' by brooks
family picnics

lightnin' bugs in a jar

flip flops
crew cuts

summer cicadas
lull me to slumber
sweet serenades
conducted by the masters
filled with water
the old Atlas jar
sets stage on
the front porch with
sweet black-eyed Susan's
my sunshine in a bottle

this is all
I require

Shadow Shot Sunday...IT'S SUMMER...'cept in the land down under, but here in the states we're rollin' in it!!! Roll on over to Tracie's and play along...

I'm awakened again this mornin' at 1:15 by front line winds blowing
everythin' off my front porch again, so I might as well work on the SSS...
sure hope the windows are up in my truck...
where did this one come from???

ARGH...sum, sum, summertime...

I'm up early. I'm leaving town today, in an hour or so. I'll return on Monday. I have my Shadow Shot set to automatically post at 9:00 PM (Central Daylight Savings Time), on Saturday night. First time I've tried that.
I love your words today. Is it poetry? Is it prose? I am a dunce and don't know the difference, but it moved me.
Slamminin' the screen door:
We have a wooden one and I put the big spring on it and that contraption that makes it stay shut, you know, with the little rubber rollers on it? I love the sound.

Used to get a crew cut. First year in a long time I didn't. At 61, I have a full head of hair, but it is thinning a bit at the temples. I have no money and maybe a little dignity. I want to save what small piece of vanity I have. There is nothing more beautiful than a ponytailed gal, of any age, in summer with a T-shirt and flip flops. ( no pun or double entendre' intended at all)

You've set the stage for me today and given me visions of a good day ahead.

Summer's here in SF too...which means fog. We had our warm spell last week. ;-)

Lovely shadows--I like the subtle shadow of the jar contrasted with the bold shadow of the flower.

Love the simplicity of your black-eyed Susans and your verse - together they say it all :-)
I liked the 'make-over' of your chairs, though they reminded me that I have a couple that need to be sorted. A job for a cooler day, I think

my car window was open it was the passenger side so i dont care lol you should do some door knocking and get an old one it might be cheaper then building a new outhouse if there are no trees or crap in the whey you could call a wrecker to move it i have a small trailer to move mine just back up tip it over and strap it down and go nothing like the looks you get when your hauling an outhouse down the rode. they wood make a super chicken house!

No need to be cooped up with the A/C at work - we ought to be outside! We had a pool when I was growing up, and the neighborhood kids would visit and swim, the older kids watching the little ones safely.

A day in the pool meant lots of sleep that night - didn't need the A/C we didn't have then...

A gorgeous bubbling post! Sunshine in a jar! I think that is the only place I'll find a bit of sunshine! We have had rain and rain and more rain over the last few days! Again! And yes! When (and if) there's a small break of sunshine mischief I am diving for the camera! Such craziness!

Just near where I live is a Car Museum! Yesterday was the first day of winter holidays, so somehow I was determined to get out! I have never been to this museum, so thought a rainy day was a good time to check it out!

Would you believe, just as we arrived the sun peeked out! Managed to get some great shots of outdoor displays! Then wandered inside to the tune of more tumbling rain! It was weird! Thundering rain on a barn-like tin roof while wandering the mystical world of old cars and bikes! And the only ones there! It was closing for winter today! How lucky!

The end result of this is I have decided to run another meme called Wheels Friday! It'll start this Friday! Any wheels will do! Just as I was thinking I must have reached insanity limits, I go reaching for more! But it's fun!

Happiness to you dearest sister and mind those vicious winds of yours! (I mean "the outside the house" variety! Ooops! Bad!)

What an evocative poem! I feel as though I'm on the porch there with you 'spittin seeds'! Instead of being rugged-up Downunder!

Oh me, oh, my! The image alone is enough, but the words and thoughts that go with it as absolute perfection. So, true, huh? What is it about summertime. Freedom, I think from the cold of winter.

You have me longing for summer now! A summer without the winds though. Ick! We get some nasty winds at the end of winter. A beautiful summery photo and poem. Enjoy your lovely weather and I hope those winds have eased off by now :)

I got woke up also. I watched the weather and they said all the storms were staying north of us so I left the goats outside. Then I was racing out to get them and had to use the lighting strikes to see where the fence was to jump over it grab some goats, jump back over the fence, race with those goats to the garage as it was closer to the barn, and then race back and grab more. It wasn't until I had them all in the garage I realized by the pain in my back that 3 goat kids several months old where too much to carry at once but I was running on an adreline high getting them all the safety. They slept the rest of the night in the garage. Not sure what woke me up so early this morning but I might as well get some work done.
