Friend's Candle Shed

I work on Saturdays at my daughter's store to give her the day off to be with her new friend and his children, as many of you know, my daughter lost her husband a little over a year ago to brain cancer, a tragedy to be sure, but as we know in this life nothing is permanent. We must move on from our sorrow to hopefulness, that life with that spouse is to be no more, only fond memories locked away in our special places, honoring a soul released to paradise. After 6 years under the shadow of cancer, Piper is finding love again and I wish her well, she deserves happiness after tragedy.

So I am here tearing up the store, giving it a new look and bringing in new stuff. I LUV this lil' red wash stand. Missing it's door, a curtain of osnaburg (feed sack)makes this little treasure the perfect piece to hold a microwave or any other kitchen stuff. You have no idea how hard it is to take these pieces to the shop, when they all look so cute in my house. I love little tables, cause they all serve so many needs in home...work stations, towel bars, desks, junk holders, end tables...on and on the list goes.

So if you're near, check out The Candle Shed..many treasures to be had, plus a myriad of candles and soaps.

Hi Sharon. You do find the cutest stuff. Iowa must be the last great place for antiquing.

I love the bonnet in the previous post. I love women's hats--but I don't want to wear one. In old photos the ladies did look fine in their hats.

Sharon is playing again..you lucky lady! I know..it is hard to part with things and that's why our homes look like an antique shop! I'm happy for Piper's new "friend" :) My husband went through Stage 3 cancer twice in a 4 year period. Thank God he is still here with us. Wishing her and the kids a bright future. :)

Hi Sharon. Thanks for your nice comment and happy belated birthday! I just opened your blog and melted into pieces between the music and the prose and the photos. Thank you for a beautifully refreshing blog! I look forward to more posts.

I'm there in spirit. Beautiful photos! And, my very best wishes for your daughter. Even if this is not "the one" it's good that she is getting back into life - I'm certain her husband would have wanted her to be happy. What a good Mom you are and how sad for you too to loose him. My heart goes out to you both.

So much to love! The "ol timey soaps" made me smile...very cute:D I made soap twice from a lye recipe and really enjoyed it...but it sure is a lot of work!
I hope your daughter finds her happiness again.

Looks like you've been working autumn magic! I like the fact you offer refills on the candles.

And all the best to Piper!
