Shopping Soiree'

Sure have been gettin' some good finds lately...I love the ol' possum belly, they just make the best work tables in the kitchen and hold lots of taters and onions...the lil' wash stand has been stripped, I think that is why I liked it. I will put a fabric top on it from an old feed sack a new look I will be experimenting with, as I did already with the piano stool. Cute primitive lil' stools, a demi-lune table, great fruit still life (which will stay in my kitchen)...it's a reward for being such a frugal shopper...right...and of course you can't pass up porch posts if the price is right. Got a few other smalls I forgot to put in the shot, like a piece of fancy ball and stick fretwork, an old tin and wood drawer full of glass chair guards and a cute lil' box with a divider in it that looks ever so cute with my Ma Kettle (me) and Jethro (my man) in it...and I think it has to stay too....did I mention I love m job, a day in a hot building, slaving over piles of junk, loading a truck in this heat ALL BY MYSELF...and where is a Jethro when you need him???

But I do it all for you and the rest of the junk floozies out there, so you can dream in the land of the dumpster, AMERICA...the throw away society...now if I could just get a part time job at the city dump...or maybe drive a big rig (garbage truck). Now that would be a job...hangin' off the back of a big ol' truck like a man...giddy-up big feller!!!

Ahhhh, the life of a junk gypsy...

Just hysterical! The land of the dumpster eh? But I wonder if our dumpster might be a challenge for your dumpster? I'm sure they would be "neck and neck" so to speak!

I am learning so much from your finds. I have never heard of a "possum belly" (At first I thought it was like a pot belly stove!)

Still a bit puzzled about what is a lune?

For my friends down under, a demi-lune table is a half round table, one half of the moon(luner) and a possum belly has deep bottom drawers which had many uses holding flour and/or the veggies. It's funny different cultures, different livestyles...who woulda thought. It's proof that us Americans were once a frugal society...definitly gone to pot...

Well, some of us still live a frugal lifestyle. I am so jealous of your finds this weekend. My pickins were pretty slim but I'll take a pic of mine this week. Maybe since it's cooled off here (Missouri) the sales will start again. Happy hunting! Jan

Oh, your beautiful music is gone!

It's been ages since I've heard the slang "ol' possum belly". I believe my dad and you would get along just fine. He LOVES to find treasures that other people don't want anymore. And he will talk people down even if they're selling something for a dollar! lol

Ah, reminds me of the time I fell into the dumpster behind walmart and Billy had to help me out. They had thrown away some display shelves and I just had to have them.
I sure wish I had been on that shopping trip with you.
The strangest thing I ever found was an armadillo purse made from a real armadillo. I kid you not! They have some for sale on eBay off and on. That same day I found a beautiful little cherry table that was painted black.
